When the town of Morrisville was founded in 1839, it was a small farming community located about 25 miles northeast of Charlotte. The settlers were farmers and their families who raised pigs, cows, hogs, and calves. They also hunted and fished. In 1865, the first store in Morrisville opened its doors. By 1870, there were six stores in town. In 1897, the first post office opened in Morrisville. By 1915, there were twelve stores in town. The population ofMorrisville continued to grow until it reached its peak in 1925 when it had over 100 residents. However, by 1930 the population had decreased to just 30 people due to factors such as World War II and then-booming oil production throughout North Carolina which caused a decrease in jobs for locals. The last store on Main Street closed down on May 1st, 1970. Today only a few traces of the buildings remain from when Morrisville was an important center for gunsmithing and ammunition sales during early 20th century America

Morrisville is a town in Randolph County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. The community is named for George Washington Morris, an early settler. It is located on the White Oak River and has a post office from 1827 to 1881. The first permanent white settlement in Randolph County was founded by Captain John Cargill of Roanoke Island in 1784. He and his family built the first known white house in what is now Morrisville on land that he had acquired from the Cherokee Indians. The first store opened in 1807 and the first school in 1809. In 1830, General James Kenedy destroyed crops near Morrisville to punish local farmers for not supporting his campaign against Native Americans under General Andrew Jackson. The town's origins can be traced back to when Reverend Elijah Hicks organized a meeting of Methodists at Clearwater Creek Baptist Church on April 26, 1827 to consider plans for a new religious congregation following the American Revolution. Shortly afterward, Revs John Ladd and William Sharp established a Methodist church at what is today Main Street and Chapel Road (now Welsh Road). A second chapel was built about two miles west of this original location on Cemetery Hill Drive between 1840 and 1850; this church burned down in 1861 but was replaced by another building which still stands today as part of Morrisville Village Square Park complex. In 1881, Morrisville became one of twelve towns consolidation into Randolph County under Mayor Jno Pritchard's mandate to improve roads and economic development within the county center area along with other villages/towns within Randolph County as part of broader efforts to promote rural growth throughout North Carolina during this period known as "the Great Transformation." At that time, most businesses were conducted out of their homes or small shops located near larger commercial areas such as Raleigh or Charlotte due then-current transportation methods including horse-drawn wagons which required stopping frequently at large stores for goods purchase or delivery services necessary for everyday life - typical functions now completed through modern day expressways/roadsides service centers acrossNorth Carolina thanks largely to advances in technology such as cellular telephone service which makes these functions almost completely superfluous geographically speaking! This lack of infrastructure then inhibited progress even further within typically agricultural counties like Randolph until∗ recent decades when various initiatives have successfully leveled off rates & improved access resulting currently in approximately $1 billion annual economic impact – makingMorrisville one significant exception among over 4500 municipalities statewide who collectively generate ∼$19 billion worth global economic activity each year! Despite its small size relative to more major metropolises it nonetheless boasts an impressive array of cultural attractions generated principally through its rich history & vibrant community spirit including world renowned festivals such as Fayettevil Festival (August) featuring world-class artists performing traditional dialect music & dances associated with Appalachian regions east OF Asheville (& many others), multiple International Auto Shows Held annually hereabouts both large scale events (eBay Auction Race Weekends), numerous Festivals Year round showcasing local arts favorites all while remaining approachable by residents just minutes away via public transportation having recently created MARS train station hereabouts providing direct rail access ½ way between Raleigh & Charlotte! Many people erroneously believe that Morristown’s crime rate is excessively high based solely upon anecdotal evidence however despite comprising only 3% OfRandolphCounties total population& ranking #38 nationally amongst similar sized communities Morristown ranks 2nd lowest overall For Rated Crime Rate according To FBI Uniform Crime Reports published annually – displaying levels well below national averages thus illustrating once again how much better situated than most rural communities Delaware Valley remains relative thereto! Today marked exactly 175 years since Revs Elijah Hicks & William Sharp organized our earliest Methodist congregation we are witnessing yet another resurgence inside our beautiful little town–this time led by Mayor Jno Pritchard who believes passionately that “It’s Not About What You Got But Who You Are That Counts” – meaning everything we do should contribute positively towards solving our community’s challenges both short term (& medium term) & long term (>5 yrs future!).
