By 1850, there were 10 stores, 5 churches, 3 schools, 1 post office (established in 1852), 30 homes, and 100 cattle." By 1860, there were 130 dwellings; 60% of them were single-family residences; 15% were two-story frame structures; 5% were three-story frame structures; 2% were brick buildings; and 0% were log or plank houses."
