Morganton is a small town in North Carolina, United States. The population was 6,362 at the 2010 census. Morganton is part of the Greensboro-High Point Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit Morganton was Dutchman Hendrick Conte in 1614 and he named it "Morgantone" after his home country of Netherlands. In 1705, French explorer and cartographer Pierre-Eugène Cusson made a map of the area that included Morganton. On July 10, 1801, the first post office in Morganton was established with Wm. Hodge as its first mail carrier. In 1830, John Leland built a sawmill on Iredell Creek east of town which still stands today. Morganton has been inhabited for over three centuries by various cultures including Lenape Indians, Scots-Irish Catholics and Blacks who had enslaved or free labor relationships with white men until the early 20th century when many African Americans were brought into the area to work in agriculture and local businesses such as mills and stores during Reconstruction times. In 1892, Grady County commissioners voted to name their new courthouse after Grover Cleveland because he had recently become president of America during what would be known as one of the great periods of American political history – during this time period there were multiple advancements in technology that allowed for increased communicationbetween different parts of America so commissioners felt it appropriate to name their new courthouse after Americas most famous leader at that time. A year later on November 15th 1893 Congregational minister Cope preached an evening sermon entitled "A Sketch Of The History And Development Of The Presbyterian Church In North Carolina" at which point another vote took place among county commissioners regarding whether or not to erect more than one building within Grady County central square due also to advances technological progress being made then allowing churches larger gatherings thereby increasing visibility for these institutions henceforth becoming more visible from all parts around America regardless if they resided within Grady County limits though both buildings would remain unnamed until 1903 when Congregational Minister Cyrus Strong donated land south side High Street between Cleveland Avenue & Pemberton Road (now routing US 21) & erected a brick church/schoolhouse structure now known as Congregation Beth Israel Deaconess Zion (Congregation Torah ’13), now located inside First Baptist Church (built 1886). For many years it served as their only religious facility however following Hurricane Floyd damage resulted in congregation moving back out onto Pemberton Road across from First Baptist church although services are currently conducted inside building each Sunday morning beginning with Morning Service on Sabbathdays prior to Evening Service.) The original Congregational minister's house no longer stands but can be viewed along High Street between Cleveland Avenue & Pemberton Road where it once stood serving as offices for several decades before being sold subsequent occupants include two families who operated a convenience store near its former site; current day occupants live adjacent to restaurant inside newly constructed shopping mall off US 421 just north of I-485 exit 205

Morganton is also home to several universities and colleges, as well as a large mall. Morganton began as a small farming community on the outskirts of Morganton. In 1876, the town was founded by John Hargrave and others who wanted to create an agricultural center for the area. The first store opened in Morganton in 1877. By 1900, there were ten stores in Morganton and eighty-one farmers with their homes spread around the community of about 4 square miles (11 km2). The early years of Morgantons growth were difficult due to lack of resources and competition from other towns in Cumberland County. However, over time, things changed for Morganton when money became available from various sources including land grants from Virginia Governor James Kenedy and J.D McDowell Sr., owner of Logansport & Other Mines near Knoxville. These donations allowed for new construction projects such as a flour mill, lumberyard and cotton gin; all within a few miles of where people lived and worked. In 1916, when World War I began, many soldiers needed food so much that mills found it necessary to open up their doors to give out free bread baskets instead of cash rations like usual. This had an impact on business at mills throughout the county because customers could no longer afford not to buy goods they needed because they would have been impoverished without those benefits provided by Mills! This event helped motivate residents to start businesses within their communities which later led to increased economic development throughout rural areas across America during this war period known as "The Great Depression". One example is Overall textile company which closed its doors after being forced into bankruptcy due largely to low prices received by consumers during that time period caused by wartime rationing policies implemented by President Franklin D Roosevelt's New Deal Coalition government
