The original Mooresville Rifle Scope was designed for use with single-shot rifles and was made from brass tube, iron sights and a Leupold or US Optics lens. In 1912, the American National Rifle Association (ANRA) was founded and in 1935, they created the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), which is now responsible for regulating firearms sports in America.
Mooresville is a small town located in Randolph County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 2,451 at the 2010 census. Moore's store and post office are the only businesses in Mooresville. The name of the town come from General George Moore who fought in the American Revolution and died in battle at Saratoga Springs in 1777. Moore's store was founded by James Fenton in 1811 as a general store on what is now High Street. It became known as "The General Store" because it carried goods for all of Randolph County. In 1831, Jno. Higginson bought the store from Fenton and continued to run it until his death in 1861. When First Baptist Church was built on High Street in 1892, they also started purchasing land to build their church on which they have been building ever since. The first post office was established at Mooresville on November 15, 1824, by John Beasley Jr., with letters sent to Cary (North Carolina) and other towns along the way. The first mail service between Mooresville and Kinston began operations on October 1, 1830. By 1865, there were ten post offices serving Randolph County with Mooresville being one of them In 1899-1900 an Improvement Association was formed to beautify downtown Mooresville by erecting new buildings including a schoolhouse and two churches - First Baptist Church (founded 1893) and Christ Episcopal Church (1899). A park was also created around this time including a merry-go-round and three swings A fire destroyed much of downtown Mooresville on May 6th 1907 which caused great damage to many buildings but did not cause any loss or fatalities In 1949 Royall Wooton donated land adjacent to First Baptist Church which became known as "Wooton Park". This park features a football field/soccer field that has been used by various high school sports teams over the years
