Mooresville is a town in Wilson County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 6,153 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greensboro–Winston-Salem–High Point metropolitan area. Mooresville is adjacent to High Point and Winston-Salem. The first settler in what is now Mooresville was John Moore who founded a small community near the present day intersection of US 301 and NC 58 on December 7, 1775. After years of exploring and prospecting for land in this area, John's son James established a small farmstead on October 5, 1810 near the junction of NC 58 and US 301. James Moore's heirs continued to live there until 1838 when they sold their holdings to Colonel Robert Elam Jr., one of Wilson County's prominent men. In 1868 Colón Molyneaux bought 1/4 mile (0.6 km) east of present day Mooresville from General Ayer Gentry for $460 dollars plus 10% interest in addition to surrounding land which he had purchased two years earlier from Enoch Pratt Churchills predecessor as pastor at First Presbyterian Church in High Points).Molyneaux built his home here called "The Homeplace" before moving it to Rocky Mount where he died in 1915. In 1922 Bessie Beattie bought "The Homeplace" from Colón Molyneaux for $2,500 cash and moved into it with her husband Harry Beattie who also ran a grocery store on Main Street until his death in 1951 . Mrs Beattie continued living there until her death in 1978 . A new post office called Mooresville was opened on April 16, 1907 by Samuel Pemberton with Hinton Post Office No. 2 as its nameakes . The last postmasters were Wm Hinton (1927-30), Lula Dillard (1931-35), Muriel Ballard (1936-39), Alice Shearer (1940 - 1945), Clyde Smith (1945 - 1949), Willis Cramer (1950 - 1953) , Nellie Nonnemaker(1954 – 1957), Clifford Jarrell( 1958 – 1961 ), Floyd Kizer( 1962 – 1966 )and Clarence Day(1967 - 1969). By 1970 the population had grown so much that Pemberton reorganized the office into an 8th district within Wilson County under authority granted by then Governor Donnie Edwards; this changed again when county governments were reorganized upon statehood creating four districts headquartered at Greensboro with jurisdiction over all eight counties withinWilson County; this left Mooresville without any postal service apart from local newspapers which are delivered through mail order services.. When Campbells Mill Electric Cooperative began operation providing power services to residents & businesses located north of I-675 on May 9th 1954 they decided not to continue serving MooresVILLE because many residents did not have access to electricity while most businesses south of I-675 operated without interruption due mainly to lack of available water resources however some business owners kept running even though their customers were without power during peak hours because they could still operate using generators or backup systems .. finally after more than sixty years Campbells Mill Electric Cooperative withdrew their service effective September 15th 1971 due largely to operational difficulties associated with changing technology along with competition from larger electric companies operating out of Raleigh

Mooresville is a small town in Rutherford County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 993 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Raleigh-Durham Metropolitan Statistical Area. Mooresville was founded by Presbyterians in 1798 as a farming and trading post on the Cumberland River. The post was abandoned in 1801 and burned in 1803 by Indian raiders who were looking for silver mines near what is now Cary. A new post was established about two miles upstream from where the old one stood, and trade continued until 1813 when the first permanent white settlement was erected here. In that year, three men named Alexander Graham Bell built a house on High Street and started transmitting voice messages over a wire to other settlements in what are now Johnston, Durham, Chapel Hill and Raleigh. By 1865 Mooresville had become an important industrial center with mills manufacturing hams, bacon, flourishes such as soapstone (a type of granite), bricks and tiles. Manufacturing declined during World War II but has since resumed with cement production being mainstay of economy today
The town of Mooresville was founded in 1792 by Colonel John Moore and his wife, Betsy. The town was named for General James Moore, who fought in the American Revolution. The first store opened in 1814. In 1836, President Andrew Johnson ordered the burning of crops inMooresville as part of a general campaign against secessionists. The town rebuilt after the fire and continued to grow until it reached its current size.
