According to the 2000 US Census there were 2,971 people living in Mooresvillette—of whom 1,854 were employed full-time and lived within commuting distance; 810 worked outside of town but all residents commuted into town for work or pleasure each day. The population density was 901 per square mile (367/km²). More than 1,000 residents were drafted into service during World War II; many went on to earn awards such as Medals of Honor or Distinguished Service Crosses. The war brought about increased traffic congestion around Mooresville due to military production and housing developments that were constructed near town; however, overall economic activity remained relatively stable throughout the war years with few major changes occur

The battle marked a turning point in Mooresville's history, and it helped spur development within the town over the next decade.
