Mint Hill is a small town in Robeson County, North Carolina. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Charlotte metropolitan area. The name "Mint Hill" comes from the Latin word "mints," meaning fresh flowers. In 1793, Colonel James Dobson and his family moved to Mint Hill from Davidson County after purchasing land there. They built their first home on what is now Main Street. In 1802, Colonel Dobson's son-in-law, William Henderson, bought a piece of property next to his father-in-law's home and began to cultivate mints on his property. The mints were used as currency by the Henderson family until 1820 when they abandoned it because of a lack of money. In 1830, Reverend Robert Epps founded an academy in Mint Hill which became known as Eppsville School for African Americans (now Samuel Adams). In 1865, Mint Hill was renamed for General Beauregard who had helped defeat Confederate forces at White Sands Pass in New Mexico during the American Civil War. After Reconstruction ended in 1877, many African Americans left Mint Hill for new opportunities in other parts of North Carolina or South Carolina. A few white residents continued to live and work in Mint Hill until around 1920 when most of them left also due to economic reasons. Mint Hill experienced some growth during World War II with many families moving into the community because they found jobs available war production plants that were located nearby such as Taylorsville Naval Air Station and Kittrell Army Airfield . After the war ended there was significant decay and decreased population due mainly to retired citizens Moving out replaced by new retirees looking for cheaper housing prices than what was available previouslymintHill lost its charm after that point

Although much has changed since then – including Salt Lake City’s establishment as both a city and state within Utah Territory – Mint Hill remains one of the most significant communities located near Chapel Hill and Durhamptown (the two largest cities in eastern NC). In fact, many people who live today near MintHill were actually born or raised hereabouts; such is its importance within local history that even some current residents may not realize they are related to previous generations of locals who lived here before them!
