This positive trend continued until after World War II when industry boomed and jobs left the area – leading to a sudden decline in population during almost half a century! However recent arrivals have brought back some vitality both inside and exterior to continue this healthy trend!

These newcomers formed a small group called the "Dunsborough Company" and began to purchase land around what is now Mint Hill and Pee Dee River Valley. By 1810, they had acquired more than 100 acres (40 km2). The Scots-Irish settlers who founded Mint Hill were hardworking people who believed that work ethic would help them succeed in America. They built schools and churches here and started businesses such as farm lands sales, quarrying materials, timber gathering, cheese production, and livestock raising. In addition to their hard work ethic, these pioneers also developed strong community ties which continue today across denominations - many of whom live on or near Mint Hill's streets today! The first school in mint hill was established by Reverend James Caldwell in 1800 as a log cabin on Old Hwy 5A outside of present day downtown mint hill/ durham county line .
