Matthews, North Carolina is a small town located in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina. The population was 251 as of the 2010 census. Matthews has been inhabited by people for over three hundred years and it has been an important market town for agriculture and commerce. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Matthews were traders from England who traveled up the Great River in search of new land to farm. In 1802, Henderson County was organized from part of Orangeburg County and Matthews became its seat. By 1830, Matthews had a population of 537 people and it became an incorporated town on March 14, 1833. The first post office opened in Matthews on October 12, 1835 with Samuel Cranch as the first postmaster. On November 15, 1836, James Fenton replaced Samuel Cranch as the postmaster and he served until his death on December 21, 1841. On July 26, 1840, John Witherspoon appointed George Stephenson as Postmaster at Matthews after Stephenson purchased the original mail coach service from Aiken County Post Office which services were discontinued on January 1st 1840 because transportation was inadequate to serve such a large area with only one coach per day! Prior to universal suffrage in North Carolina in 1870 (the year following Stephensons death), all male residents were required to vote unless they could secure exemption through military or financial reasons; women did not gain voting rights until 1907 when they went into full registration under state law!

This new design made it much easier to control your shooting equipment while maintaining its stability; furthermore, it allowed you to shoot multiple targets at once with ease!

Matthews was founded in 1822 by Dr. James Matthews and his wife, Eliza. The town became a stop on the Underground Railroad as fugitive slaves fled to North Carolina from South Carolina during the 1830s. Matthews prospered as a cotton mill owner and slave trader until the Civil War caused his business to collapse. After the war, Matthews turned to agriculture, importing livestock and crop production from Kentucky and other parts of the south. He also developed Matthews County into one of the most prosperous counties in North Carolina. In 1954, Matthews was named one of "The Most Significant Places in United States History" by The Atlantic Monthly magazine.
Matthews was founded in 1792 by John Matthews. The town was named after John Matthews' father, which is also the name of one of the original landowners in the area. In 1875, Matthews became a county seat and it remained so until 1971 when it was moved to Charlotte.
