Lincolnton is a small town in the Pender County area of North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,681 at the 2010 census. Lincolnton is located on the border of Dare County and Tyrrell County. It is part of the Asheville metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what would become Lincolnton was John White who arrived in 1786. He built his home on present day Main Street and named it White's Plantation after himself. The town started off as a small farming community with few homes and only two churches - One Baptist and one Methodist - both operated out of barns or other buildings until 1827 when a church was built by Reverend James Sutherlin which remains today as Lincolnton's only downtown property. In 1830, Cotton Planter Elisha Blanchard bought land north of town for $2,000 from John White. By 1840, Lincolnton had 12 residents and three churches: one Baptist (now First Baptist), one Methodist (now Second Methodist) and one Presbyterian (now Third Presbyterian). In 1845, General Luther Pemberton donated five acres to be used for general stores, mills, post office and school; this became known as Pemberton Square today. A fire destroyed most of downtown Lincolnton on December 15th 1861 during a severe winter storm but did not cause any damage to buildings outside the city limits which were still functioning thanks to donations from local citizens including Drury Wagon Works owner Elijah McDowell who offered to rebuild everything within his store if damage happened inside his building LINCOLTON TOWN COUNCIL INCIDENT On November 3rd 1916 four men entered Mr Fenton’s lumber business at 9pm while he was working late because they had been told he wouldn’t be coming back that night; they took all his tools along with some furniture before leaving early the next morning without giving him time to get another job so he could pay for them If caught they would have received a sentence of 5 years hard labor instead of just 2 months imprisonment In 1913-14 there were three banks in town viz Gee & Allen Loan Co., Jepson & Hargrave Banking House & Trust Company then Peoples National Bank until it went bankrupt in 1915-16 The first post office opened up here on May 10th 1865 under name “Pendleton Post Office” It closed down due to lack of customers 1 year later on October 7th 1865 when mail stopped being delivered here because Pendleton wasn'torterized anymore Mrs Agrissippi Dixon ran the grocery store from her house next door until 1902 whore died suddenly at age 64 That store still stands today across from First Baptist Church where you can find her tombstone now Mrs Dixon also founded an orphanage called “Dixon Home for Needy Children” which still operates today A new courthouse was built near Present day intersectionof Blanding St And Clinton Ave in 1924 which served as our Local Supreme Court until 1971 When that building burned down we moved over to court house square across from First Baptist Church This Courthouse still stands today However since 2011 it has been used as an event space by various businesses including Conrad teevee company who have set up shop inside There are several explanations why Lincolnton slowly begin moving away from its agricultural roots towards industrialization during World War I although all agree upon one thing: cotton production played an important role into both decisions made about development priorities within North Carolina government circles." - "Lincoln Parish History" by Don League Trade goods produced around these parts included textiles such as clothing, shoes, hats etc., tiresome items like nails and screws were brought south using African slaves hired primarily for their harvesting skills not their carpentry talents--an important addition given that many white families also grew crops around this time." - "Cotton Fields Of America" by David Dyson Today much evidence remains supporting claims made about early textile manufacture hereabouts...For example numerous artefacts relating specifically to spinning/weaving fabrics have been discovered throughout Lincoln Parish dating back centuries; examples include looms incorporating hand brakes dating back well over 100 years old...
