On December 12, 1775, the Continental Congress passed the Declaration of Independence. The following day, December 13th, the Continental Army began its march from Philadelphia to Lexington. The army was met by a large force of British troops at Lexington Point. After a bloody battle, the American forces emerged victorious and took control of Lexington. This event is known as the Battle of Lexington Point.
