Gun magazines have a long and storied history in Lexington, North Carolina. The first gun magazine in the area was The Rifleman, which opened its doors on July 1, 1882. SN&N later renamed itself Pistol News & Notes before folding in 1978. But despite its brief tenure as a gun magazine publisher – only two years – it left behind a rich shotgun magazinehistory that still flourishes today. First published in 1882 as The Rifleman, Shotgun News & Notes quickly became one of the most popular publications for shotguns in Lexington County due to its informative editorial content and wide range of coverage including hunting and shooting contests). Lexington is a town in the western part of the U.S. state of North Carolina, located on the Yadkin River. The population was 9,567 at the 2010 census. It is part of Greenville County and is bordered by Gastonia to the south and west, Fayetteville to the north, and Morganton to the east. The town was founded on December 10, 1814 by Colonel James Moore and his party as a trading post between Fort Nashborough on Roanoke Island in Virginia and Fort Raleigh on Cape Fear River in present-day North Carolina. English colonists had been living in Lexington since 1607 when they set up a trading post there with local Native Americans. In 1729, English settlers built a fort at what is now downtown Lexington after defeating French forces besieging Fort Nashborough. The first British governor of North Carolina arrived in 1775 as part of an effort to secure independence for British colonies from colonial rule by France. He named Lexington "the most important city in that colony" due to its role as an important stop along routes leading from Wilmington to Boston via Hillsboro Crossing and Chesterfield Bridge across Yadkin River; this reason also led to its nickname "The City of Trade." In 1800, white traders began arriving from Georgia and South Carolina looking for goods unavailable anywhere else in America because of Spanish piracy off Point Comfort on Roanoke Island (see Pirates). By 1810 most all trade with Spain had stopped so American merchants could focus their efforts on merchandise shipped back into America through Puerto Rico instead which then resulted in increased shipping rates across the Atlantic Ocean making Lexington one of the highest priced towns on earth at that time costing $2 per pound compared with $0.50 per pound for London Cove where sugar cane was grown inland near Charleston Harbor). In 1830 Colfax Bradford donated land adjacent to what is now downtown Lexington for use as a public square which became known as Bradford Square after him; it remains one of only two square blocks remaining unmodified within today's boundaries of downtownLexington despite being extensively developed over time including multiple schools, churches (including First Baptist), hospitals (including Transylvania Medical Center), restaurants, bars etc.; it has also become home to many historic buildings not connected with any other commercial district such as Old State House/Plymouth Meeting House/Mansion house which were used by several generations of mayors before being sold or destroyed during Prohibition era housing bubble brought about by easy money attracted primarily by manufacturing plants based here) while other districts quickly gentrified becoming high-end shopping areas like uptown Gastonia & Miracle Mile followed suit later adding fast food joints like Kentucky Fried Chicken & Wendy's.( see Downtown development map ).
