The university has made much progress in recent years through research programs focused on new technologies and their impact on society andthe environment; however, UNC still faces many challenges such as student unrest over tuition hikes and budget cuts The first European settlers in what is now North Carolina arrived in 1565 A.D., but there is no evidence that they ever erected a permanent settlement hereabouts beyond trading posts along the Roanoke River estuary – certainly not within present-day Davidson County or eastern Wake County where Asheville lay at that time! The first known permanent inhabitant of what would become Carytown was John White who settled there about 1627! This early settler must have been very lucky since he located his land just upstream from what would become one of America’s most productive cotton plantations… [and] adjacent mineral resources! From here began one of America’s longest continuous waves of white migration: upward – initially to find better opportunities for subsistence than those available back home; then later because land prices had begun skyrocketing following discoveries offshore during Captain John Smith’s three voyages (1608-1614) locating two types[sic]of “strategic sites” capable of harboring large fleets while also providing valuable salt water access!!! By 1700 only scattered pioneer groups remained scattered hitherabout throughout present-day Davidson/Wake Counties!! Over time more area came under cultivation including some cleared uplands east central Johnston County today – especially around Hendersonville & Carthage proper; these areas were soon targeted for slave production….. Slavery did not arrive here until AFTER independence from Great Britain in 1776 !! In 1775 Kentucky General Robert Rogers captured Jumperstown Ferry from Cherokee Indians near this location…. On July 2nd warlike proceedings were held between Rogers & Cherokee Indians led by Chief Jumperstown who represented himself….. Upward movement along this fork followedlv [sic] Indian hostilities leading to increased trade consequent upon capture…. weavery goods being exchanged for arms…… Goods procured at Jumperstown Ferry are described as follows: Clothing items such as breeches Genuine Virginia Coats etc Wagon wheels different size spindles earthenware pots without handles Gadsden waistcoats buffalo Hide Shoes
Gun chokes have been a part of the firearms world for centuries. The first known use of a gun choke was in 1576 when Niccolò Machiavelli implemented it in his Florentine pistol, the Arno. Gun chokes are also found in handguns and rifles today. The earliest guns were muzzleloading pistols which used musket balls as ammunition. These guns required two people to cock the hammer and fire the ball, which caused the ball to go into the barrel and be pulled out by the trigger. To chamber a round, one had to insert their hand under the gun’s armament and lift it up so that they could pull off (or push through) the nipple on top of the ball cartridge. This process allowed men to shoot more rounds with less effort than using a multi-shot breechlock firearm such as an English Rifle or French Musketeer. With handgun chokes, however, there was no need for anyone other than owners to operate them since all handguns work with standard shotgun cartridges. Pistol chokes were eventually replaced with rifle chokes because rifles can hold more rounds per magazine than handguns and also require less manual labor for loading/unloading them- making them ideal for warfare where speed is important. Rifle chokes remained in use until well into World War II when they were supplanted by bolt action rifles as shotguns became more popular due to their greater firepower compared to pistols and rifles.

The city experienced rapid growth during thelate 1960s through 1970s thanks in part to efforts such as annexation of neighboring towns and development of new neighborhoods downtown. During this time period, major infrastructure projects such as Interstate 95 were completed in central Lexington while other areas saw increased development including an "urban renewal" effort which yielded significant improvements in public transportation options within town limits
