Growth has been steady since then with new developments being constructed on both sides of I-85 just south of downtown and along US 25 east of town limits. Today, Lenoir stands as one of America's most vibrant towns with an active economy that revolves around agriculture, manufacturing (including apparel production), healthcare services, education/research institutions and local tourism destinations such as Sequoia National Park and Nantahala Lake State Park
