Kernersville is a town in Fayette County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 6,722 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Raleigh–Durham–Fayetteville metropolitan area. The Kernersville-based Poultry and Feed company is the largest producer of corn based pellets in the United States. The first settler in Kernersville was John Kern (1798-1868), who came there with his family from Virginia around 1825. His son Samuel Kern (1827-1902) settled on a tract near what is now the junction of U.S. Routes 421 and 821A about 1845. He built a log cabin and named it "Kernerville". Other early settlers were Edward Brown (1851-1937), Hiram Hogg (18511857), Daniel Burch (baptized December 17, 1801), Ebenezer Silliman (died 1865), Enoch Smith (baptized February 14, 1814) and James Geegle Jr.(baptized October 2, 1861). In 1870 John Dabney organized a feed millinery plant near present day downtown Kernsville which became one of America's leading food processors; this mill manufactured corn based pellets for poultry slaughterhouse use throughout North America until it closed its doors in 1978. In 1886 Jno Aiken founded an agricultural goods store that still operates to this day as "The Ag Store". Abram Shriver bought out Jno Aiken's interest in 1898 and continued operations as "Shriver's Agricultural Supply" until he sold it to Braniff Airways in 1948. In 1919 Raynor Lumber Company established a sawmill on Duck Creek which continues to produce lumber today under the name Raynor Lumber Co.. From 1951 through 1966 Dwight Durbin served as Mayor of Kernsville & later became Governor of North Carolina; during his tenure he also purchased land adjacent to town limits for development including what is now State Highway 317 north of town limits. In 1951 local resident Oral Roberts started an oil well drilling business called Oasis Drilling Company Ltd.; by 1970 production had increased enough for him to open up another processing plant - this time using gas - which he renamed "Oasis Petroleum Corporation". With world petroleum prices reaching $100 per barrel by 1973 Oasis Petroleum Corporation went public raising over US$2 million dollars before closing its doors due primarily to low commodity prices and competition from foreign companies such as Shell Oil International Incorporated; today only a few relics remain from that once thriving community - most notably an old brick building on Duck Creek where the company's offices used to be located prior to its closure circa 1973; within walking distance now stands one of America's largest shopping malls - Home Shopping Mall - anchored by Sears Roebuck & Co.; all evidence suggests that when things got tough times did they get tough for KERNERSVILLE!

Kernersville is a small town in central North Carolina, located on the banks of the Neches River. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. Kernersville is part of the Greensboro–Winston-Salem–High Point Metropolitan Statistical Area. Kernersville was founded in 1836 by George Kern and his family after they left sir John Belcher's ranch in present-day Caldwell County to establish their own land grant. The settlement grew rapidly and in 1839, when the U.S. government set up a post office here, Kernersville had a population of over 100 people. In 1840, local entrepreneur Archibald Ross founded Kernersville Academy which continues to operate today as one of North Carolina's leading educational institutions. During Reconstruction (1865-1871), Kernersville became an important center for black American political and economic activities due to its proximity to Raleigh and its role as a major cotton market for African Americans in northcentral North Carolina. In 1868, George Washington Carver moved from rural Fulton County to farmland near Kersvilletown for business reasons; he named his farm Carverland after this site. For many years, Carverland remained one of the most important agricultural sites in eastern North Carolina despite being several miles from any urban areas or towns. In 1907, Aimee Pritchett organized what would become known as the First Methodist Episcopal Church here; membership totaled just six persons at first but quickly grew into an influential force within nearby Greensboro with branches throughout western North Carolina and southeastern Virginia (now parts of Maryland). In 1928, Aimee Pritchett donated her church property across from her original church building – now known as Southern Methodist University – to support education within inner-city Greensboro through graduate school opportunities for black students living below poverty lines throughout easternNorth Carolina while also serving as an intermediary between white educator and underprivileged students within that community; ensuing decades saw DMU grow into one of East Coast university's preeminent research institutions with world-renowned programs in such diverse fields as economics, law, linguistics, history and anthropology among others during its tenure here at KernersVILLE!

In the early 1800s, settlers from North Carolina arrived to create a community on the banks of the Pee Dee River. The first settler in Kernersville was John Aiken, who built his home on what is today High Street. In 1821, Aaron Burr tried to assassination President James K. Polk with a rifle shot from nearby Chapel Hill. Burr's attempt failed and he was apprehended and incarcerated at Musgrove Plantation near present-day Kernersville.
