In 1907, Winchester bought out Waugh & Sons and their pistol magazine business merged into their rifle magazine arm, Winchester Repeating Arms Company. From 1911 to 1916, Winchester also acquiredowned interest in Browning’s ammunition company which made its first firearms products for handgun enthusiasts. The company was renamed Winchester Ammunition Corporation and continued making firearms products until 1978 when it was sold to Browning Firearms Corporation

Jacksonville is a city in DuVal County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 10,914 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of DuVal County and part of the Charlotte metropolitan area. Jacksonville is named after Spanish explorer don John Sebastian Jacksonville and his expedition to explore what is now north-central North Carolina in 1606. The first known permanent European settlement in present-day Jacksonville was on Tryon Island by Englishmen in 1718. The island was used as a site for military fortifications during the American Revolution, but no permanent settlement resulted because of its difficult access and lack of resources. After it became clear that British troops were not going to leave Tryon Island, some settlers moved to what would become Jacksonville on November 11, 1776 when General James Moore ordered Major General Edward Braddock's army to cross the Ashley River at that location and attack Fort Charlotte. However, only three men from Captain Samuel Blount's company reached the riverbank before being killed by Native Americans who had been guarding the fort; these events led to calls for assistance from England which eventually resulted in Moore's order for an all-party march on Fort Charlotte instead. In 1814 Lieutenant Colonel Richard Henderson purchased land east of downtown from General Nathaniel Banks as part of a military campaign against loyalists who had taken refuge there after fleeing Wake County during the War with Mexico. Henderson named his new property "Jacksonville" after John Sebastian Jaguars' Expedition which explored northcentral NC in 1606 while serving as governor of New Spain’s Florida Province under Governor Velázquez de Ayala - this name may have been derived from Spanish explorer Don Juan Sánchez de la Partida’s expeditions led by Pedro Menéndez de Avilés through eastern NC during 1599–1600 and appears on a map made by Cartographers Hernando de Soto and Diego Valdés Ortíz around 1586/87 while they were exploring southeastern FL Territory under admiral Pánfilo Fernández de Oviedo – this name also appears on maps created subsequent thereto including one made by Thomas Davidson between 1795 and 1800 specifically depicting Jacksonville located just south of modern day Interstate 95 nestled among mature pine trees near mile marker 159 (now I-95) withinDuvalCounty limits – it thus likely derives ultimately from Don Sebastian Jaguars' expedition through what is now northcentral NC in 1606 following chainsawing down live oak trees across 120 degrees latitude). Jacksonville was founded in 1755 by Nicholas Johnson, a Loyalist. It became an important center of the Carolina Rebellion of 1812. The Battle of Jacksonville took place on October 16, 1814, during the American Civil War, when Confederate forces under General Beauregard attacked Union forces under Lieutenant Colonel James Longstreet. The battle ended with Union victory and the capture of Jacksonville by Confederate forces.
