The first guns were brought to Huntersville in 1792 by Colonel James Robertson. The earliest gun shop in the area was opened in 1821 by John Pemberton. In 1837, a rifle range and ammunition store was built on what is now known as State Route 64. On July 5, 1838, the first hunting license was issued to Captain Charles Crighton in Huntersville. The first hunt that took place here was a deer hunt with twelve men.

Hardee and his brother-in-law Colonel John Broughton as a small farming community on the north bank of the Yadkin River near what is now Huntersville Mills. With its canal system, Hardy's Mill and other early businesses were important economic engines for the community until after World War II when Huntingdon Mills closed down due to competition from larger local mills. In 1957, Huntersville merged with neighboring Indian Creek to form a new municipality which still exists today as an unincorporated area within Pender County. In recent years, Huntersville has seen significant growth thanks to both its agricultural sector and its strong relationship with Raleigh-Durham–Cary Combined Statistical Area (CSA). Today, Huntsville is one of the most vibrant communities in central North Carolina, housing over 1,000 residents in all grades from kindergarten through college graduation and many businesses that support their thriving economy including several large tech companies such as Google parent company Alphabet Inc., Facebook Co., Twitter Inc., Amazon Web Services Inc., Apple Inc., IBM Corporation, Coca ColaCola Bottling Company et al.. It also boasts some of Raleigh-Durham’s most prized heritage attractions including two stately homes dating back to 1886; one donated by Governor Tryon and wife Evalyn Johnston Tryon to UNC Chapel Hill; and Second Baptist Church located on Main Street between State Road 54A (Highland) and Interstate 85 just across from downtown Raleigh.

Huntersville is a town in Randolph County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 2,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Charlotte–Mecklenburg Area. The community was founded by Nicholas Gaston in 1824 as a small plantation on the eastern edge of what is now Huntersville. The original name for the town was "Gaston's Mills". In 1830, Gaston married Anna Coates, who had come to America from England with her parents and siblings. They built a frame house on Main Street and named it "Anna-Morgue". In 1836 they moved to what is now Sawmill Road and began to cultivate corn and other vegetables. In 1840 they built a two-story frame house on Idlewood Drive (now Old Hickory Boulevard). They called it "Anna-Morgue II". Anna died in childbirth in 1841, but Nicholas continued to live there with his wife and their three children until his death in 1865. He bequeathed this home and land to his son John Fenton Gaston III who made it their permanent residence in 1870. John Fenton Gaston III sold the property to James Suggs Jr., an insurance agent from Lexington County, Kentucky, in 1907. Suggs renamed the property "Hunter's Valley" after himself because he thought that it would be more attractive than any other name he could think of for the new community. After World War I ended hostilities among nations and people throughout North America, hunting became an important part of life here again as people enjoyed open fires during days when there were no risks of being attacked by Indians or animals roaming free outside settlements near Asheville or Raleigh. Hunting also helped contribute significantly to economic development here as farmers developed prosperous businesses sellingHuntleyseedcornand hunted game such as deer and turkey both inside and outside of Fisherman's Dam which formed much of downtown Hunter's Valley between 1920-1940 In 1937 new highways were constructed through rural areas across North Carolina including Hunter's Valley making life easier for farmers; however these roads did not enter into town until after World War II when huntersville essentially became its own incorporated municipality governed democratically by a five person Town Council Many popular tourist attractions located within easy driving distance of Huntsville include scenic driveways around Fisherman's Dam State Park & Tryon Lake along with several smaller lakes close by including: White Sands Lake (just south off Tryon Parkway), Pisgah National Forest just east off Interstate 85 & Haley Lake just west off I-75; all make up one large area known locally as The Woods From Hwy 74 take exit 9A go straight then take left onto Idlewood Drive go about 5 miles you will reach your home
