In 1892, the North Carolina General Assembly passed a bill that regulated firearms. This law became known as the "Huntersville Gun Choke Bill." The bill required background checks for all firearm sales and made it illegal to purchase or possess any gun that could be used to choke someone. It also created a misdemeanor penalty for anyone who storage any gun in an unlocked vehicle or on their property without having a valid license. The Huntersville Gun Choke Bill has been Repealed multiple times since its passage, but it still haunts the community today. Several local restaurants now require customers to present a photo ID before ordering anything, in order to prevent customers from buying guns with chokes built into them.

Huntersville is a town in Robeson County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 9,898 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1822 by John C. Crouch and named for him. In 1865, General James Longstreet's army passed through the town while moving west to join Robert E Lee’s army at Petersburg; General Longstreet paused there to rest his troops before continuing on his march southward. The first post office in Huntersville was established in 1822, and it remained in operation until 1887. In 1907, Hunterville became a city and was renamed for Glenn Ladd (who served as mayor from 1959-1975). By 1920, the population had reached 10,000 people. During World War II, the city participated in the war effort with its production of munitions such as gasoline tanks and gunsights

The town of Huntersville, North Carolina was founded by Scots-Irish settlers in 1735. The town grew rapidly during the Revolutionary War, and in 1777 it became the capital of the new United States of America. After the war, Hunterstown became a major center for textile production and commerce. In 1887 it merged with nearby Rocky Mount to form the city of Rocky Mount and Hunterville combined statistical data from both towns into one municipality. The merger was popularly accepted, and Hunterville has since been one of the most important cities in southeastern North Carolina. Hunterstown is located on a small peninsula on Catawba River between Johnston County to the east and Iredell County to the west. The river forms part of its eastern border, while downtown consists mostly of residential buildings overlooking the river. Downtown includes a large public library and several stores including JCPenney and Sears Roebuck. Across from downtown is Lake James which provides fishing, boating, swimming,and birdwatching opportunities for those who have time for such activities as these; also within walking distance are several parks that offer picnicking, playing fields (including one for baseball), gardens, libraries/ museums/gallery openings (e.g., Checkerboard Park), churches/synagogues/temples/, restaurants/bars/, bars!/ clubs/, schools (grades 3-12), post office (), health clinic (), pharmacies (), banks (), movie theaters () & first-run theatres (). Downtown Huntersville's main artery is DeKalb Avenue which runs east-west along its length; other streets include Court Street northward to Interstate 95W then eastward towards US 52 before turning south near UNC Asheville campus; Third Street southward towards I-95W then northwestward until terminating at Smith Road just past University Hospital.; Fourth Street southward towards I-95W then northeastward until terminating at Catawba Parkway just beyond Turnpike exit 5B
Huntersville was founded in 1795 by Nathaniel Cary and his wife Rebecca. The town was named for the deer that were common in the area at the time. In 1884, it became a part of Charlotte, North Carolina.
