They consisted of a sight platform or “base” with an adjustable objective lens and a reticle or aiming point located within the platform. The objective lens was typically placed at one end of the platform while the aimpoint was located at the other end, allowing shooters to adjust theirshots distances according to their preferences. Early gun sights also featured hand-held knobs or levers which allowed shooters to fine-tune their shooting positions. With advances in technology over the years,gun sights have evolved into today’s technologies including digital optics and laser sighting systems which allow shooters to target specific areas on a target without ever having to remove their firearm from its holster or carry it around

Holly Springs is a small, picturesque town in the state of North Carolina. It was founded by General William T. Sherman in 1871 as a stop on his march from Atlanta to the Sea of Japan. By 1915, there were more than 1,500 residents living in Holly Springs proper and it had begun expanding outwardwards into adjacent rural areas. In 2016, Holly Springs celebrated its 100th anniversary! In the earliest days of firearms there were no fixed sights; instead, pistols used a variety of protuberances on the barrel to assist in aiming. The first true sighting devices were designed to help with target shooting and came about in the 16th century. These devices consisted of apiece of metal or wood that was attached to the barrel near the muzzle and allowed shooters to point the weapon at their desired target while looking through it. This type of sight was known as a “calico” sight because it allowed users to see their target not just from behind but also from either side. The development ofidelights (and eventually red-dot sights) made sighting much easier and more accurate, allowing shooters to hit their targets with greater precision than ever before.
