Today Holly Springs remains an important center for agricultural production and shopping for local residents as well as tourists who visit its traditional attractions such as wellsprings and cotton plantations dating back to before European settlement in what is now Johnson County: A stop on the " Underground Railroad ", smaller than Asheville but home to some of America's most significant antebellum architecture; two libraries - one which contains rare books from inside slavery days; two museums - one dedicated to African-American history and culture; a reconstructed slave cabin built specifically for the 2008 movie "Diary Of A Wimpy Kid"; a nationally known arts festival each year that features classical music, dance performances by international artists from around the world, food truck/canapé restaurant options during night events featuring local cuisine from various restaurateurs including award-winning chefs like Rufus Thomas; farm tours led by experienced guides that take you through everyday tasks associated with agriculture such as planting seeds or harvesting crops; more than 25 shops located throughout downtown that offer everything from groceries to souvenirs
