Gun sights have a long and varied history in High Point, North Carolina. They can be traced back to the early 1800s when gunners in this area used iron sights to target their shots. The first guns that were fitted with sights in High Point were made by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and Company, a French gunsmith company. In 1805, Captain John Sargent of the United States Navy took possession of a ship called “Nancy” and began using her as a training vessel for new officers. As part of his training process, Captain Sargent equipped the ship with two brass rammer mounts which he placed on either side of the mainmast. He also installed sighted iron copies of three old Spanish cannons that had been captured during the Mexican War. These cannons were used as targets for practice at sea. In 1811, Captain James Bogue appointed William Halsey Jr., one of his assistants on board the USS Constitution (1812-1814). During this time period, Captain Bogue was responsible for many important naval operations such as blockading Havana Harbor and fighting against Spanish forces off Mexico City. While commanding “The Constitution”, Captains Halsey and Bogue developed what is known as the Bogue Rule which aimed to improve naval gunfirenery by regulating muzzle velocity while firing live ammunition. This rule became effective during the War of 1812 when British warships started using smoothbore artillery instead of cannon balls that caused serious damage to American ships. In 1821, Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong founded Armstrong & Co., an armament manufacturer in High Point which continued manufacturing firearms until 1898. From its inception until 1898, Armstrong & Co.'s pistols were exported to most parts of the world including Europe, Asia Minor (Turkey), Africa and South America. One reason why pistol production became so widespread in High Point during this time period was because there was no shortage of skilled labor available due to our large population growth during this era! Many people from throughout town volunteered their time and skills to help manufacture these firearms! One important event that occurred during Armstrong & Co.'s Pistol Production Era is related to shotgun cartridges being invented by John Browning in 1861! John Browning patented his invention entitled “Pistol Rounds containing Blanks” on July 25th, 1861! This invention allowed shotguns owners who desired to fire blank rounds instead of full metal jacket rounds without havingto worry about damaging their shotguns! By 1888, all handguns manufactured by Armstrong & Co.'s had become standard issue across America! Even today some criminals still choose not To use actual rounds rather than empty handgun shells when attacking people or property because they feel that it would be too risky!!!

High Point, North Carolina is a town located in Wake County, North Carolina on the banks of the Elizabeth River. The population was 9,711 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Raleigh–Durham metropolitan area and is one of the most important economic engines in eastern North Carolina. The town was first settled by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1795. They named their settlement "High Point" after a height they had seen while hunting near the site today. The English founded High Point Plantation in 1810 and named it for Mount High Park which situates nearby. In 1830, High Point's first post office was established and its first settler, John Pritchard, arrived from England with his family. In 1835, George Washington Banks donated land to High Point for a public school district that would serve all of Wake County. In 1846, High Point was incorporated as a city under county jurisdiction and soon became an important transportation hub forviling farmers and businessmen throughout eastern North Carolina because of its location on both I-85 and US-1 (the original US highways). During World War II, many high level military personnel were stationed at RAF Wittering airfield just north of town during World War II when it served as primary storage facility for aircraft used by RAF Bomber Command as well as receiving personnel coming into Raleigh/Durham on leave or returning home after deployments elsewhere in the war. In 1967, HHP merged with Durham suburb Plano to form what became known as 'The Triangle'. This merger allowed much needed commercial development around what had been rural farmland within Town Limits - creating more jobs than ever before here! Unfortunately this growth led to some environmental issues that continue to be faced even 50 years later such as water contamination from coal burning power plants located adjacent to Town Limits – still an issue today!
High Point was founded by Scotsmen in 1795. The town grew rapidly and by 1820, it had a population of 4,000 people. In 1885, the United States Railroad Company built a line from Greensboro to High Point. This allowed for more traffic and commercial development in the town. The town experienced a rapid growth until the 1970s when it lost its status as an important center of commerce due to competition from larger cities in the area.
