High Point is a town in North Carolina, United States. The population was 33,872 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Nash County. The first permanent white person to live in High Point was James Caldwell in 1792. When Cherokee and other Native Americans were Removal policy during the 1830s, Caldwell decided to stay and fight for his people rather than move away. In 1857, when Randolph Bogue discovered coal seams near High Point he began mining operations which produced heavy wealth for both men and families. This early industry helped support local businesses and workers who would later contribute to growth of the city center and today's downtown area. The first school in High Point opened its doors on December 1st, 1852. By 1860 there were ten schools in High Point with a total enrollment of over 500 children! In 1865,Caldwell donated land on Center Street to be used as a public square where citizens could parade their horses or cars while shopping or visiting friends; this became known as "Caldwell Square". In 1861 Union General John A. McClernand attacked Confederate forces at First Battle of Bull Run Bridge without orders from Richmond – an event that has been called one of the most pivotal moments of American history. McClernand's attack caused great damage to Confederate lines but also resulted in high casualties for Union forces which forced them back across Bull Run River and into Northern Virginia where they suffered many losses including General Robert E Lee who died leading his troops against McClernand's charge! One year after McClernand's battle at First Battle of Bull Run Bridge, Confederate General Earl Van Dorn arrived at High Point with 5,,000 men intent on capturing it cross country! After several days' siege ( Van Dorn had 4 divisions under him), on January 9th 1862 Union General Nathaniel Banks drove out VanDorn's force through ground battles southeast of town - starting what would be a long-standing conflict between the two armies that continues to this day! That same year also saw construction begin on what would become known as "The Hill" – now home to numerous restaurants, bars, hotels and condos along with some lovely views! In 1870 Englishman Jethro Tull moved his family from Glasgow Scotland to Durham County NC where they set up shop selling goods door-to-door before finally settling down around Lowndes Street east of town center in 1871 – becoming one of America’s earliest music promoters/entrepreneurs In 1907 HPRC built their first radio station broadcasting from studios located atop “The Hill” giving rise to today’s popular HRC Radio Network . With encouragement from then Mayor Harry Mitchell Jr., HPRC named themselves “HPLN” (HighPoint Public Library) which still stands today as one of America’s oldest library systems providing world class services including online access all digital items statewide ! Today more than 120 libraries across North Carolina offer free access to select items digitally !! 14 churches currently offer free religious services every Sunday morning beginning at 7am !! And we haven't even started talks about events yet !!

High Point is a town in Caldwell County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greensboro–Winston-Salem–High Point Metropolitan Statistical Area. High Point was founded on November 3, 1792 by Rear Admiral John Ratcliffe and his family as "Albany" during the French and Indian War. In 1855, High Point became part of the new state of North Carolina when it was established as a result of the American Civil War. The Union Army burned down portions of Albany in 1865 as part of their efforts to capture Durham. The first post office in High Point opened on October 12, 1827. The town's incorporation happened on November 3, 1792 following Ratcliffe's donation of land for its creation. At that time, Raleigh was still under British rule and had not been fully liberated from British control since King George III had granted royal pardons to many Loyalists who had taken up arms against the British Crown after America won independence from Great Britain in 1776. In 1855, upon General Johnston's victory over Confederate forces at Franklinville outside Hillsborough County Courthouse in May 1865 (known as Battle of Franklinville), North Carolina Territory fell into Union hands following the war and Henderson County became part of Forsyth County while Avery and Randolph Counties were merged into Caldwell County as a result of this battle/incorporation. According to some historians Lowndes Parish may have also become an incorporated community within Highpoint due to its proximity to Lowndes Island which served as an artillery range for much of what followed throughout Reconstruction north Central Carolina until1964 when all artillery batteries closed down with one exception due to air attacks by United States Air Force B-29s during World War II). As early as 1860 there were plans underway for railroad construction through what is now Caldwell County connecting Charlotte with Durham via Montreat(later Raleigh) through Albemarle(later Greensboro) - only matters until that time stalled because lack funding from various levels including US congresspersons who felt railroads would only benefit eastern coastal towns instead developing areas further inland such that Asheville could easily be reached without having to go through Carrboro or Chapel Hill; these gentlemen being unaware at that time about what later became known as Appalachian Development Highway aka I-85 West which connected both cities making it possible for people living near those cities now called "The Triangle" (Avery/Caldwell/Forsyth) - much like today's I-95 corridor running between Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill led respectively by I-95 eastbound thru NC State Capitol building then continuing thru downtown Winston Salem before terminating at I-85 westbound just past where I-85 currently meets Interstate 95 eastbound leading you back home again!

In 1814, High Point was founded as a plantation by Englishman David Lewis. The town grew up around the Lewis and Day plantations, which were located on an area that is now known as the Manchester-High Point neighborhood. In 1868, High Point became a county seat of Durham County. In 1926, High Point was renamed for General Winfield Scott Hancock after he won the U.S. presidential election that year.
