In 1847, firearm manufacturer Nicholas-Jacques Lefèvre began manufacturing a new type of rifle cartridge called the .50 BMG. The Lefèvre rifle was designed to take advantage of the new breechloading mechanism that would become standard in rifles by 1854. This new system allowed for rounds to be loaded more quickly and with less guesswork about where the shot should go. The company’s first rifle cartridge, the .50 BMG, became well known and successful within its own industry. By 1875, Nicholas-Jacques Lefèvre had released over fifty different calibers of ammunition for use with their rifles. These cartridges included both high-power and low-power projectiles. In addition to their own rifles and pistols, Lefèvre also manufactured ammunition for other manufacturers such as Smith & Wesson and Remington Brothers firearms companies. Ammunition production at Nicholas-Jacques Lefèvre continued until 1911 when it was taken over by Browning Arms Company Limited. At this time, Browning Arms Company Limited became one of the leading producers of ammunition in the world.

The second community was called Bearcreek and it was located on what is nowstate road 520. The first post office at High Point opened in 1827, and it served the entire county until 1865 when Raleigh took over responsibility for postal services. After Johnston's War (1860-1865), which ended with the Union occupation of North Carolina, business slowed down and few new settlers moved to High Point because there wasn't much available land. However, some did move to bear witness to one such event during this time – when Confederate General Robert E Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865. When Johnston's surrender happened many people fled north into Canada or West Virginia due to the inklings of war coming any day soon. A small group of high school students from nearby Asheville decided to stay behind because they thought war would end before their town could get wiped out by enemy forces Some residents who had evacuated returned home after learning about Johnston's surrender; however, most everyone else left for fear that they would also become prisoners if war continued hostilities still lingered In 1868 a post office reopened at High Point thanks to an act of Congress passed shortly before George Washington died ; however, by 1870 only 4 residents remained in HIGH POINT while 400 people lived within 1 mile radius of Raleigh By 1881 only 14 residents remained while more than 2200 people lived within 5 miles radius This decline continued through the late 1800s as towns like Greensboro grew larger while HighPoint shrunk back into obscurity save for occasional mentions in local newspapers
