In Hendersonville, North Carolina, the Gun Security History Museum is one of the oldest and most comprehensive collections of firearms in the United States. The museum has a collection of more than 2,000 firearms from throughout the United States and Canada. The museum also has a variety of exhibits on gun safety and history. The Gun Security History Museum Collection began with just a few handguns collected by Jerry Koppelman when he served as mayor of Hendersonville from 1984-1994. In those days, it was not easy to obtain firearms in North Carolina since they were often confiscated by law enforcement agencies on suspicion that they were used in crime or could be used against an opponent politically or socially. One important part of this collection are military surplus guns which date back to during World War II and into today’s modern world wars. These weapons have been donated by individuals who have decided that they no longer need them because they are no longer effective at engaging enemies on the battlefield or being used for self-defense purposes outside their home country/state/city limits (i.e., Iowa). This type of donation allows for people all over America to get their hands on some incredibly rare rifles that may only be available through private sales or auctions because there are no regulations governing how these types of donations can be made (or even accepted). One such weapon is a .30 caliber M1 Garand rifle that was donated by former Air Force veteran Donny Schantz from Ft Worth Texas in 2003. This rifle had been stored away at an Army base near Charlotte NC where it had been used as target practice before being donated to the Hendersonville Gun Security History Museum along with other antique weaponry including revolvers and shotguns dating back to 1892! It wasn’t until 2004 when Mayor Jerry Koppelman got involved with creating this unique gun security history museum after seeing how much potential existed for perpetuating Weapon Safety Awareness Month through promoting education about firearm safety within local communities across America every November – something he knew his constituents would appreciate! At first glance, Mayor Koppelman thought nothing could top NRA®'s annual toy exhibition held annually at Hollywood Casino & Resort located next door but quickly realized there was simply too much history associated with these guns inside our historic downtown building! After initial tours were offered free OFFLINE upon arrival followed up BY PHONE upon reservation it became apparent just how populargun security awareness month actually was throughout town!
