Hendersonville is a small town in Henderson County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 4,339 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Henderson County. The town was founded in 1827 and it became a city in 1909. A gun magazine company was first located here in 1892. Gun magazines were first brought over by settlers from Virginia in the late 1800s to help them with their weapons collection and storage needs. In 1902, a local man named George Witherspoon opened the Witherspoon Arms Company here in Hendersonville as part of his efforts to start a gun shop and handgun manufacturing business. By 1907, there were six Witherspoon Arms companies operating throughout the United States. The manufacture of firearms began to decline during World War II due to rationing and other wartime restrictions on arms sales. However,gun magazines continued to be produced here until after the war ended in 1945. After the war, guns resumed being manufactured here as well as other products such as rifles and shotguns. Today, Hendersonville remains one of America's most important centers for firearm production with many businesses that contribute to its economy including several firearm manufacturers along with various retailers selling firearms both online and offline

Hendersonville is a small town in North Carolina, located on the banks of the Yadkin River. The population was 9,367 at the 2010 census. Hendersonville is home to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and one of the largest concentration of ROTC (Rifle, Pistol and Scout) members in the United States. Hendersonville also has a large concentration of professors from UNC-Chapel Hill. The town began as a farming community near what is now downtown Hendersonville. A sawmill and grist mill were built in 1824 and 1825, respectively, by John Sitton. In 1837, Hendersonville became part of Person County when it was organized. In 1840, violence broke out between white farmers and slaves in nearbyWinston-Salem over land claims. By 1845, however, cotton had become the most important crop in person county and several mills were demolished to make way for new ones. In 1865–66 Confederate General Robert Ewell made his headquarters at nearby Durham while maneuvering his army around Petersburg towards Richmond; during this time Nathaniel Banks commandeered some buildings inperson county courthouse for himself and his staff before being arrested by Federal forces outside Durham on October 12th 1865 after leading an attack against Fort Fisher naval base which failed due to Confederate reinforcements arriving too late). In 1870–71 local attorney Wm Hance patented a system for mailing ballots by mail; this system was later adopted statewide by North Carolina throughout the 1880s until it was replaced by early voting machines starting with primaries in 1984.) A schoolhouse been built on Main Street Presbyterian Church (now known as First Baptist Church) about 1850 served Douglass High School from 1862 until its closure in 1972; an addition was added to the church about 1890 that served Trinity Episcopal Cathedral from 1913 until its closure about 2000.)
