Hendersonville is a town in Henderson County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 14,813 at the 2010 census. The town is located on the east bank of the Yadkin River. It was named after General David Henderson, who fought in the American Revolution and during the Battle of Saratoga. The first settler in Hendersonville was John Findlay Jr., who arrived in 1792. He founded a trading post on what is now called Findlay's Landing on the Yadkin River. In 1809, Captain Nathaniel Palmer established a small fort at what is now Called Palmer's Landing to oppose British efforts to control trade along the river. In 1814, General James Kenedy besieged and captured Fort Donelson from Nashville militiamen under Colonel Hugh Blair. Afterward, Hendersonville became part of Davidson County and its government relocated from Donelson to Hendersonville. On July 1, 1827, it incorporated as a town under chartered Act of Congress #206 / “An act for founding and organizing a township within this State” with a population of 772 people . On January 15th 1860 when Tennessee statehood came into effect new laws were passed creating townships instead of single-member districts which led to significant growth in Hendersonville by incorporating other unincorporated settlements including Morningside Heights (1912), Highland Heights (1915), Hillcrest (1920), Springdale (1925) and Apple Valley (1926). All but one (Apple Valley) were dissolved by 1950s when their populations reached 3 or less residents per square mile limit set by state law; Morningside Heights ceased operations in 1970 having had its population exceed 10 per square mile for most of its history while Highland Heights has never exceeded 5 per square miles despite growing populations over recent decades due largely to annexation by nearby Springdale which reached 8 per square miles before dissolving in 2006). The last township founded before 1990 - Springdale - also ceased operations having had its population exceed 10 per square mile prior to that point as well although there have been some smaller villages consolidation throughout this period including Westpark Village/Mapleton(2006) just outside Hillsboro limits currently supporting about 12-15 people with no plans for further growth beyond that settlement provided future housing developments are approved by Fayettevillians

Hendersonville is a small town located in Henderson County, North Carolina. The population was 1,827 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Henderson County. The town has two square miles of land and is surrounded by mountains on three sides and the river on one side. Hendersonville was founded in 1801 as a trading post for traders traveling between Great Britain and America. In 1814, Hendersonville became the first capital of North Carolina after Raleigh was burned by General Andrew Johnson. In 1838, Hendersonville became an independent city when it amalgamated with Gaston County to form statewide Raleigh-Durham Township. On July 4, 1865, Confederate General Jubal Early attacked Union forces near what later became known as Battle Creek Road northwest of town and fatally shot four Union officers including Colonel John Pemberton; this event led to Reconstruction in North Carolina which lasted until right before World War II when Asheboro replaced Hendersonville as the state capital because Raleigh had become too large for its own government to handle. Today, Hendersonville retains many elements of its antebellum history including a downtown area that contains several buildings dating back to the 1800s such as the State Capitol Annexe and National Guard Armory (now called Western NC Museum). The village also includes smaller shopping centers along with schools and churches serving the local community since most residents live within one or two blocks of their work or home location no matter where they are situated within town limits. Some other notable features include several golf courses available in neighboring Gaston County as well as some excellent restaurants including Ben & Jerry’s headquarters just outside town limits across from Hillsborough High School which served as both a primary school for students in grades 9-12 until 2006 when it merged into nearby Davidson College which has since closed down)
