Hendersonville, North Carolina is home to one of the most famous firearm hat stores in the country. The store, known as The Hat Shop, first opened its doors in 1892 and has been selling firearms ever since. On July 4th of this year, the store celebrated its 100th birthday with a commemoration party. Many of Hendersonville’s biggest names in firearms were on hand to celebrate the occasion including Mayor Chuck Henson and Sheriff Donny Hathaway. In addition to honoring its anniversary, The Hat Shop also donated 50 hats to local police departments across the United States in memory of their fallen officers.

Tobacco production began in earnest in this area when African Americans were enslaved and forced to work on plantations near Gainesville. Cotton farming played an important role early on in HendersonVILLE's history as well - until white farmers moved into that area to take advantage of growing cotton fields instead In recent years much progress has been made for both business and cultural reasons throughout downtown HendersonVILLE with several new businesses opening up such as: CVS Pharmacy & Health, PNC Banknorthwest Branch #2256 & 2527 S., Wells Fargo #5447 S., JCPenney #8686 S., Macy's Inc.#101 N/A., Sears Holdings Corporation#11362 N/A.. There are also several restaurants & bars located throughout downtown including: The Duke's Cafe which overlooks Chain Bridge Road overlooking Lake Como; The Blind Tiger BBQ & Grilled Cheese which overlooks Interstate 95; Ruby Tuesday Buffet; Ponderosa Steakhouse which overlooks Interstate 95; Eddie Bauer Outfitters (which used to be Bebe’s); Gov't Store No 1 - inside old Post Office building across from High School There have also been various development projects recently announced such as a $20 million renovation project for Main Street between US Highway 421st South Boulevard and I-485th West Boulevard Additionally, plans are currently underway for a mixed use redevelopment project adjacent to US Highway 421st South Boulevard called "The Hub" which will include office space and residential units Additionally another mixed use redevelopment project called "Central Square" is planned to be situated at 4100 Central Avenue NE across from Central Park
