This new type of ammunition became known as "Hendersonville Lead" and was purchased by many businesses in town. In 1912, the first shotgun ammo was imported into North Carolina. This ammo consisted of shot shells made from soft lead which caused a great deal of recoil when fired. Shotguns had not been popular in North Carolina at this time so the arrival of this new type of Ammo allowed people to use shotguns for their first time. In 1958, North Carolina passed a law that required all firearms dealers to sell reloadable ammunition along with any other firearms products they sold. At this time, reloadable Ammunition was becoming very popular because it allowed people to keep their guns active over multiple rounds without having to purchase additional rounds each time they needed them. Today, Hendersonville is home to one of the largest manufacturing plants for reloadable Ammunition in the Southeast United States. This plant manufactures both centerfire and revolvers cartridges full metal jacket (FMJ) which are among the most powerful cartridges available today. In addition, these companies also produce Winchester 50 caliber targets and State Arms 300 grain JHP rounds for hunting applications

The original land being offered consisted only of one block which extended along High Street from Main Street to some residences on Union Avenue.
