Scope mounts, also known as "hanging sights", were a type of sighting device used in shotguns and rifle firearms. They consisted of a tool or rod with a loop at one end that could be attached to the barrel of an armory-quality firearm by means of a screwdriver, 6-in-1 bit (or other similar fastening device), and was lowered down onto the weapon's bore using either a weight or an anchor. The purpose of this type of mount was to provide aiming assistance for shotgun shooters who were unable or unwilling to use traditional sights, such as those found on most rifles. The first scope mounts appeared during World War I when arsenal manufacturers began producing firearms chambered in .30 caliber which utilized 8x42mm European optics. Shotguns became widely available after the war and many shooters began using them for Rifle competition where they were more accurate than traditional scopes due to their smaller size and lack of magnification capabilities. In 1925, Winchester introduced its "T" series telescopic sights which utilized 4x42mm American optical glass instead of European optics. These sights became popular among Shooters who needed high Accuracy while shooting at short ranges (< 100 yards) because they offered superior performance overtraditional open sights at these distances. In 1960, Browning introduced its new design shotgun barrels utilizing 7x57mm American optical glass instead of European optics; this change completely changed the course of Shotgun hunting! Closed Mount Scope A closed mountscope uses what's called a traditional Weaver style mounting system with either an attached tripod leg or ringside handlebar grip/sticker ( modeled after those used on motorcycles). These systems offer some advantages over openmountscopes in that they tend to be much more stable when rotated about their vertical axis; however they are less versatile as they cannot be adjusted anywhere other than vertically which limits their applications range - mostly hunting/ target competition where variable sighting adjustments might be necessary such as windage & elevationfinding turrets etc.. Since then, the society has published several hundred volumes of local history including reports on community events and economic development. Havelock is a town in Rutherford County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 2,596 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Charlotte–Mecklenburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Havelock Historic District is a national historic district located in the town and includes 124 contributing buildings from the late 19th century to the early 21st century.

Havelock is a town in McDowell County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,846 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Charlotte–Mecklenburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1857 by General James Longstreet and his wife Elizabeth Shortridge Havelock, both of Scottish descent. They named their new community after George Washington's army general, who had helped them settle in the area two years earlier. In 1860, Havelock became the county seat of McDowell County and has remained that way since then. The first school in Havelock was built on what is now Main Street in 1857. A second school was built on Cemetery Road in 1859; it burned down in 1865 but was rebuilt with wood and metal frame buildings. The present-day High School building opened for classes on September 15, 1914; it replaced an older gymnasium which had served as the county courthouse since 1856. In 1907, Havelock developed a new white cottonseed oil industry which became one of the largest in North Carolina during that decade; it still employs many local residents today. The local paper mill closed its doors in 1985 but has been reborn as a small business called Paper Mill Park LLC which operates out of a former Sears store on Ulysses Road near downtownHavelOCK
