On July 3rd 1907 the name reverted back to "Havelook". On January 1st 1925 it again changed its name to "Davie City", and finally reverted back to its original spelling on December 10th 1951 due to lack of interest from residents in keeping the change alive

This situation changed when state law passed in 1911 allowing brothel owners to operate without having their licenses revoked if they satisfied certain conditionsincluding providing free housing and free access to medical careand paying taxes on their profits1 . In 1917-18, Armstrong Waddell developed a oil well near present-day Haverhill and began production at this site which led to increased traffic through the community which attracted prostitutes from other parts of North Carolina intoHavelocks taverns for sex encounters2 . However, by 1920 only about 50% ofhavershield residentswere employed within agriculture3 . Nevertheless, prostitution continued as an important part of haverhill life until it disappeared altogether during World War II4 .
