Havelock is a small town in western North Carolina, United States. The population was 4,191 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Roanoke Rapids-Lynchburg Combined Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Havelock were French traders and missionaries in the early 17th century. In 1776, General James Graham's army crossed the mountains and destroyed an English forts at present day Lynchburg after seven days of battle. In 1819, General Bryan under orders from President James K. Polk moved his forces through North Carolina to take advantage of new transportation routes opened up by railroads. The Battle of Havelock was fought on October 11–12, 1819 near present day Hanging Rock Bridge within miles of Roanoke Rapids. Despite being outnumbered two to one by Confederate forces under Generals AYuninga and Johnston, Polk's men forced their way through and drove the Confederates back across the river into South Carolina; this event became known as "the Battle at Hanging Rock". General Polk was nominated for a Medal of Honor but declined because he did not achieve military success during that campaign or since then

The original knives were simple hunting/gathering tools that were used for cutting meat and other cooked food items. Over time, KNIFE became very popular within the French military and government circles due to their high quality and affordable prices. In 1825, two years after CONTE’s death, his son Nicolas-Jacques Conte Jr. took over the company and began producing more elaborate knives called “Conte & Bienne” knives which eventually became known throughout the world as KNIFE Brand name). These knives featured ornate designs that set them apart from other type of hunting/gathering tools at this time. In 1886, CONTE’s grandson Louis Conte passed away but left his entire manufacturing business to his only son Nicolas-Jacques III who continued production under the new name “CONTE AND BELLO KINGS OF SWISS CORDOKINESI” ( modern day KNIVES HISTORY ). During World War II, KNIFE produced a large number of specialized knife models specific to military use. Many of these models later became collector items among Knife enthusiasts around the world! Havelock was founded in 1784 by Captain John Meigs, who named it for General George Washington. The town was originally a small community of about 100 people and grew to become one of the largest in North Carolina. In 1851, Havelock became the county seat of Durham County. It remained the county seat until 1933 when Raleigh assumed that role. Havelock has a rich history that goes back to its founding. Captain John Meigs named Havelock after General George Washington because he felt that the name would be popular with military men and their families living near Mount Airy and Bladenboro where Washington resided at the time. The town quickly grew and soon had a population of over 200 people. After moving from Mount Airy, Captain Meigs set up shop in what is now downtown Havelock and began to build what is still considered to be one of North Carolina's most distinguishing landmarks - the first courthouse in North Carolina. Today, this building hosts many events such as court proceedings and other government functions throughout the year. The town also prospered through its involvement in farming and trade activities. On October 1, 1851, Havelock became part of Durham County when it was created from portions of Orange County. This change marked an important milestone for Havelock as itCWOuld become home to both local government as well as commercial activity within its boundaries which would continue into present day. In 1916, HavelOCK United Methodist Church was built on State Street just outside of town limits; this church remains today one of the most prominent symbols associated with Havelocks culture and history
Havelock was founded in 1792 by Captain John Havelock. It was named for General James Robertson, who had served in the British Army during the American Revolution. The first school in Havelock was built in 1802. In 1865, Havelock became a parish of Raleigh and eventually became an independent town.
