Graham is a small town in Robeson County, North Carolina, United States. It was founded in 1837 by George Graham and his family. The town has a population of about 1,000 people. He married Sarah Hargrave, who was also from Robeson County. The Grainsmills settlement began on October 17, 1837 when six families moved into the first house in what would later become Graham. In 1865, Henry Covington donated land to help fund creation of NC State University at Raleigh. This led to increased development aroundGraham; businesses such as Dillard's Clothing Store and Waddell Drugs started up along with several new schools including Randolph-Macon Female Seminary (now UNC Chapel Hill) and NC A&T State University (now Appalachian State University). By 1870, Graham had reached its peak with over two thousand residents and seventy-five businesses operating within its boundaries. However, during the early 20th century growth slowed due to large-scale agricultural Innovation which devastated much of North Carolina's farmland during that period of time – makingGraham one of only a few towns across the state remaining unchanged from before 1800 AD!
