The school was completed in 1888 and has been used ever since for public education purposes. Fuquay Varina has had many businesses active throughout its history including: Poultry processing plant (1910), Waffle House (1982), Funeral Home & Crematory (1988), Cafe Don Giovanni (1998), Laundromat Giannotti's Italian Eatery (2001) and several churches such as First Baptist Church (1899) and Our Lady of Peace Parish Chapel (1976). A variety of cultural events have also been held here including: Folk Festival(1974), Jazz Night Out(1984), Bluegrass/Folk Jam(1993) and arts& crafts show & sale(2011).
