Carruth named his route "Fayetteville" after General George Washington's military encampment near Alexandria, Virginia during their finalcampaign against British forces in 1781-82 known as "the American Revolution". The town started off small but quickly mushroomed with popular Events like First Baptist Church dedication on November 8th 1828 followed by growth due to lucrative agricultural markets available due to favorable soil conditions along the riversbodies within easy driving distance for farmers; access to water; lumbering opportunities; railroads being built through central Tennessee/North Carolina providing easy transportation into cities throughout much of America etc…..
