In 1978, the store relocated again, this time to its current location at 601 S Tryon Street in Dunn. The store has been open since then and continues to serve as a Mecca for gun enthusiasts from all over North Carolina and beyond. In 1826, Reverend Eli Whitney donated land on which the Dunn Baptist Church now stands, making it one of only two churches (the other being Pee Dee Methodist Church) erected specifically for used by African Americans in North Carolina during that time period. In 1870, John Harnett established what became known as Harnett Motorsports Park on the site of what is now Sears Point Race Track; it would later become known as Darlington Raceway International Speedway. The track opened its doors on July 1st, 1971; it remains one of NASCAR's most prestigious tracks to this day). In 1984, Dunn also became home to America's first open air shopping mall when The Mall at Dunn development opened within walking distance of all local businesses across four main malls: The Mall at Dunn Village Center - anchored by JCPenney - Dillard's Department Store - Macy's - Sears & Co.'s original store - and Regal Cinemas (now AMC). In 2000, water damage caused extensive damage to many buildings including both Primary School and Baptist Church which were rebuilt with state assistance using money raised through fundraisers throughout the community After much fundraising effort over several years old Town Hall Building reopened as Middle School on September 10th 2002 along with new gymnasium/ Auditorium/ Library which had been completely destroyed by fire just months earlier
