After the war ended, many new businesses opened up in town including a grocery store (owned by Hosea Horton), a flour mill (owned by Elias Waddell), a car dealership (owned by Averell Harriman), and even a movie theater (OWNED BY THE GREEK MOVIE FOUNDATION). These new businesses brought much change to downtown Cornelius but also left their mark on how things operated within the community overall. Many people who lived in or near downtown Cornelious during these years remember all of these businesses because they had an impact on how life functioned within our small village back then. Today, pistol clubs are still extremely common within this community with people often having multiple handguns stored at home as well as several rounds per person ammo storage/carrying capacity!
