The name change came about because mail passing through Pemberton frequently stopped at John Fenton's mill on Wilson Creek where local businessman John Pemberton stored his flour when traveling through McDowell County during wintertime due to snowpack concerns within Wilson Creek Valley National Forest at that time. A new Post Office was erected October 10th 1865 by order of Governor Zebulon Vance after General Robert E Lee’s surrender at Appomattox Court House Maryland on April 9th 1865 which ended American Civil War south side of Mason Dixon Line including Cornelius area

Its economy changed dramatically when mills were built around the turn of the century to produce yarn for export to Europe and Japan; however, these mills closed after World War II due to competition from larger companies within AmericaNazareth Mills Ltd., Burlington Industries Inc., Jiffy Lube Corporationand other foreign countries. There were several small businesses which thrived throughout this period including two general stores (one operating as a grocery store), four pizzerias (two operated by Italian immigrants), three blacksmiths (one still active) and two churches (both Baptist). However, many residents did not experience these changes because they lived outside of town or because they did not have access to good education or job opportunities within town limits. Instead they developed their own businesses or social networks within their community while waiting out local economic conditions which often proved difficult during this time period. One such resident is Earle Capps who founded Capps Chevrolet dealership on Highway 127 in 1955 and continues to operate it today with over 100 employees across multiple locations across North Carolina including Raleigh/Durham/Fayetteville as well as Knoxville TN&SC . In recent years much progress has been made towards revitalizing downtown Cornelius but it will take many years for all aspects of the city center to become redeveloped into a modern municipally run community with daycare centers, coffee shops, restaurants etcetera designed specifically for young professionals and families living Downtown like current Mayor Donny Dunn does himself every morning before getting started on his day job

Cornelius was a small town in the Cherokee Nation, located east of Fort Smith, Arkansas. The community was named for General Cornelius S. Grant, who had helped lead the American Civil War. The first post office at Cornelius was established on October 12, 1852. The name was changed to Fort Smith on December 7, 1854. On September 14, 1907, a tornado passed through the area and destroyed much of the town; however, many people were killed or injured as a result. In 1957-1958, Cornelius participated inOperation Golden Globe which aimed to stop communism in Southeast Asia by conventional means only.
