The Cornelius, North Carolina, Rifle and Pistol Club was organized on December 11, 1881. The first meeting of the club was held at the home of A. J. Larkin in present-day downtown Cornelius. The original members were: John Pasternack (President), Abram Johnson (Vice President), Elisha Robbins (Secretary), Wm. Hinton (Treasurer), James Ritchie (Recorder). In 1886, the club moved to its current location on Market Street in downtown Cornelius and changed its name to the Cornelius Rifle and Pistol Club. In 1895, it acquired a shotguns range which lasted until 1922. In 1912, the club purchased a machine shop for use as their rifle range and continued to operate it until 1958 when it was donated to local schools as part of the Gun Shop program mentioned earlier. In 1924, the club purchased a shotgun range from Drury Arms Company near Charlotteville for use as their rifle range; this range operated until 1977 when it was destroyed by fire. Theclub then leased space in Uptown Shopping Center from Sam’s Warehouse for their shooting ranges until 1981 when they bought back all of their old equipment from Sam’s Warehouse including the Shotgun Range and converted it into an indoor pistol/shotgun range with three lanes and a synthetic target wall that could hold up to 90 shooters at once! They also built an outdoor gun yard adjacent to their indoorrange that still stands today! In 1990, they donated all of their firearms equipment including their riflescopes, handguns and shotguns to NC State University where they are currently stored awaiting restoration!
Cornelius is a small town in the Upstate of North Carolina. It was founded in 1831 by Cornelius Vanderbilt, one of the largest landowners in that region. The population of Cornelius was 798 as of 2010. The town is named after Cornelius Vanderbilt's uncle, Simon Van Doren, who had settled there in 1796. Vandalia, the first post office in Cornelius, was established on May 12, 1830. In 1831, Vanderbilt donated land to the town for development and it became a principal city within two years. In 1865, Cornelius became an independent city and has since been self-reliant and remained so through much of its history. Cornelius is home to many famous people such as: musician Willie Dixon; singer/songwriter Clay Aiken; politician Kay Bailey Hutchison; entrepreneur Elon Musk; entertainer Tom Petty; and coach Rick Majerus. The city also hosts several annual events including the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway (or "The 500"), which takes place every year on Memorial Day weekend in honor of General William Tecumseh Sherman and his push for cotton independence during the American Civil War; and Homecoming Weekend which celebrates local academic achievement throughoutsummertime with parade andevents around town
Ammunition history is a long and complex subject, but one that can be broken down into three main periods: pre-war, wartime, and post-war. Pre-war ammunition was developed in the early 1800s for muzzleloading rifles and shotguns. Warhead design began in the late 1800s with British developments and continued until the mid-1930s with American designs. Post-war ammunition was developed from scratch following World War II, with a focus on anti-personnel munitions. There are several types of ammunition used today, including rifle rounds (mainly .223 Remington), pistol rounds (9mm Parabellum and .380 ACP), shotgun rounds (12 gauge and 20 gauge), as well as artillery shells (mortar rounds) and incendiary devices (torch ammo). The first firearm to use ammunition was the musket, which fired shot by shot through a tube fitted to the barrel. Ammunition gradually replaced this single shot method of firing in favor of more rapid fire using multiple shots per minute or “rounds”. The first cartridge designed specifically for firearms was the round called an “ buckshot” which was created in 1699 by Nicholas Jupitus.[1] It consisted of large lead balls that were fired at high speed from a short muzzleloader such as an Old Model Rifle. By 1786, pistols had become available that could be fired without reloading, so cartridges became important for these weapons. By 1812, handguns had also become popular enough that improvements were made to their cannons that allowed them to firemultiple rounds per minute instead of just one per second. This led to development of new calibers such as .40 S&W caliber which became common starting around 1868[2]. However, it wasn’t until 1865 when Congreve projectile finally became standardized which allowed guns firing multiple round per minute to use his new breech loading system – this gave rise to what is now known as Rimfire Ammunition[3]. Eventually all projectiles needed to be standardized in order for them all to be manufactured so Breech Loading Guns became common starting around 1865; however it wasn’t until 1893 when Winchester introduced their own standardization process for bullet type & weight Distribution when they started creating centerfire rifles chambered in various calibers including 7x57mm Mauser NATO (.308 Winchester) followed by 6mm Remington Magnum (.264 Winchester) & 5 inch .22 LR/.222 Remington(!). These centerfire cartridges eventually evolved into what we know today as NRA rimfire cartridges like 9 mm Luger / 9 mm Browning Hi Power (.45 ACP), 12 Gauge Cartridge (.240 Weatherby Magnum etc.), Shotgun Rounds (.410 ga., 12 Ga., 13 ga.) etc.. All other types of ammunition follow suit over time depending on its popularity

Cornelius is a city in Buncombe County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 11,012 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Asheville metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what is now Cornelius was George Capps who built a cabin on land that he donated in 1792. He also planted trees and laid out streets and blocks in what is today the downtown core of Cornelius. In 1814, General Thomas J. Dawson founded Rocky Mount Academy which became NC State University and served as the town's main educational institution until the mid-20th century when it became coeducational. The attack on Fort Sumter by Confederate forces on April 12, 1861 led to 2nd Lieutenant John Broughton organizing an hour-long militia parade from Carthage Square to Fort Raleigh where he introduced martial law before order could be restored. A group of men including Broughton formed the nucleus for what would become known as "The White Rabbit" Resistance movement which unsuccessfully opposed Confederate rule during 1861-1865
Cornelius was founded in 1795 by Cornelius Vanderbilt and his wife, Anna Maria Vanderbilt. It became a city in 1885.
