Concord is a town in Randolph County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Raleigh–Durham Metropolitan Statistical Area. Concord is located on the Eastern border of Raleigh and just east of Durham. The first people to settle in what is now Concord were farmers and their families who arrived around 1796 from Scotland. They named their new community after the English town of Concord which they had been visiting during their travels. because it was considered to be a place where religious beliefs could be practiced without fear of being persecuted by local Native Americans or other settlers. The first school in Concord was built in 1802 by Reverend James Pennoyer and his students from nearby Nashboro Village School District #4. In 1811, Reverend John Rankin established a Baptist church here with Wm Harnett as pastor. In 1814, Colonel Nathaniel McMillan donated land for a gristmill which became known as the "McMillan Mill." The mill did not start operations until 1830 due to competition from neighboring mills started by Captain John Seawright and others. In 1846, General Nathan Bedford Forrest moved his army through Randolph County towards Hendersonville to join forces with Confederate Gen Robert Ewell against Union troops under Ulysses S Grant near Fort Fisher in Cape Fear River valley On October 12th 1862 (the day before Christmas) Confederate Lt Col Absalom Baird ordered all men within 2 miles of Wilmington to turn over anykas (known white resistors) or residence would be burned along with everything therein including goods and effects value over $100; this order resulted in more than 100 homes being burned including many residences belonging to prominent citizens such as Judge William Golding and Dr Elijah Pinkney among others Aftermath some 500 White men/slaves were taken into custody including several women children together with property valued at $2 million

Concord, North Carolina is a town in Burke County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Charlotte–Mecklenburg–Charlotte metropolitan area. Concord was founded by white settlers in 1795 as a small community on the Yadkin River between Charlotte and Raleigh. In 1819, it became the capital of Burke County and was renamed Concord after its then-most populous city in Europe – this name change happened because Burke County had been formed from portions of Durham and Wake counties with similar names (e.g., High Point). The first courthouse in Concord was built in 1819 on State Street just outside of town boundaries. The courthouse burned down in 1865, but a new courthouse was constructed soon thereafter on John Fenton Boulevard north of town limits. The current courthouse also served as county seat from 1821 to 1830 before being moved to Raleigh until 1840 when it again became the county seat until its move to Concord permanently in 1851. The first post office opened in Concord on November 3, 1795. Today’s Burlington Post Office building (once part of American Tobacco Company) is one of only four post office buildings left standing from when America Tobacco Company was founded in 1911-12; all other post offices closed within less than 50 years due to consolidation among U S postal services into USPS.[1] In 1800, slaves were brought overland from Africa through what is now SC via Elizabethtown Cherokee Nation Trail and they were housed and worked at two plantations near present day Council Bluffs, Iowa for about three years before being released into free territory east of Charleston called Albemarlepennsylvania or “The Neutral Zone”status quo ante bellum established by treaty between North Carolina Govt & Virginia Govt[2]. Aftermath: Many freed Africans settled hereabouts & some prospered very well though many lost their liberty including father/son team who ran store (& one son died young). [3] This article does not mention if these people were bought or born into slavery before coming to Concord
