Concord, North Carolina is a town in Chatham County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 7,611 at the 2010 census. Concord is located on the eastern border of Chatham County and the Western branch of Raleigh-Durham Combined Statistical Area. It lies south of Raleigh and north of Cary. The first post office in Concord was established on December 12, 1814. The current post office building was built in 1907 and is one of the few surviving examples from the late 19th century when most towns were constructed around churches and schools. The name "Concord" derives from an English word meaning "to consult." In 1785, George Washington traveled through Chatham County while he was campaigning for his presidential election against John Adams. He stayed at what is now called "Pinehurst", a farmhouse near present-day Concord that still stands today and which served as his headquarters during his campaign. When he returned to America after his term as President, he purchased the farmhouse which became known as "White House". On November 6, 1819,, General James Ketchum met with representatives from North Carolina in Charlotte to discuss boundary changes between their states that would occur due to new United States Constitution Annexation movements occurring throughout the South Atlantic Confederacy (SAC). After discussion among both parties it was decided that Ketchum would lead a force into western Durham County in order to survey this new territory for possible annexation into NC: On January 5, 1830 Ketchum's force arrived at what is now called Old fort Tryon (now part of Randolph Park), east of downtown Concord about two miles away from where present day Chapel Church sits on Meeting Street (). At this location General Robert Easley had erected a stockade consisting of logs hurdles twenty feet high posts with earthfill filled halfway up between each hoop--a typical early frontier guard fence design . Within minutes of Ketchum's arrival Ulysses S Grant arrived with troops from Cincinnati accompanying him commanding Major General Jesse Harnett's brigade numbering 4 companies under Brigadier General David Hunter who also led an artillery detachment including two 10 pounder guns mounted on standards . Although not immediately aware of what transpired behind those logs or within earshotof those gathered thereabouts , Grant ordered his men inside the stockade without waiting for orders from higher up; they then began firing shots back into the stockade killing some soldiers trying to return fire while others took cover behind fences or trees nearby .....As soon as news reached Bear Creek garrison that forces adjacent thereto had been employed against them by their own friends within Confederate lines they withdrew westward unharmed .......This seminal event eventuated in ultimate recognition by Congress recognizing NC boundariesThus beginning Cherokee Nation residency within NC waters lay within former SC borders ......The original Fort Tryon site can be found situated off US HIGHWAY 421 just eastbound exit ramp off I-95/US HIGHWAY 25 just before mile marker 193 on Hwy 421SRR

Concord, North Carolina is a small town in Rowan County, North Carolina. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. Concord is located on the Yadkin River and it is home to the historic Concord Baptist Church which was founded in 1766. The town of Concord began as a trading post on the Yadkin River by white settlers in 1786. In 1838, Concord became part of Randolph County and in 1865 it became part of Rowan County. The first post office was established in Concord in 1824. The first African American to live in Concord was Elisha Cook from Spartanburg, South Carolina. In 1915, when World War I started, many Americans came to what would become known as “The Great Migration” for various reasons including opportunity and political change. Many of these newcomers settled near Concord where they opened businesses and raised families. In 1930, during the Great Depression, many residents left for fear of being forced out of their homes by economic conditions or taxes levied by the federal government. However, over time most people have returned to their homes and businesses within the community boundaries since then. Today, Concord continues its role as an agricultural center with crops such as soybeans and cotton grown alongside livestock such as pigs and chickens that are used for meat production or eggs sell at local farmer’s markets throughout the year. There are also several restaurants and cafes located within walking distance of downtown while plenty of parks offer access to enjoy nature without having to worry about parking restrictions
Concord was founded in 1795 by pioneers of the new state of North Carolina. The town grew quickly, and by 1813 had a population of over 1,000 people. In 1865, during the American Civil War, Concord was burned to the ground by Confederate forces.
