Holster manufacturers produced thousands of holsters for servicemen, but it was during World War II that they really took off. Many people found comfort in a good holster and soon enough, holsters were all that was available on store shelves.
Clemmons is a small town in North Carolina, located on the edge of the Piedmont region. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greensboro–Winston-Salem–High Point micropolitan statistical area. The town was founded by General James Clemmons in 1827 as a stop on his march from Fortieth Regiment to reinforce General Robert E. Lee during the Battle of Monmouth Court House. The name comes from Old English "Climen" meaning "a clearing or open space." In 1885, Clemmons became an incorporated village and then an incorporation town in 1924. The economy of Clemmons is based largely on agriculture and manufacturing; however, some services are also prominent in the community such as accounting and law practice. The current Mayor is Lenore Barnes with Geraldine Sellers serving as her Vice Mayor since 2011. In 1865, Confederate General John Buford tried to force Union general William Anderson into battle near Clemmons by arresting him and driving him off road into a bog which resulted in his death. This event helped spur development around Clemmons because it made it more difficult for Union soldiers to move through the community undetected and ultimately assisted in its defeat at Gettysburg two years later. Most recently, much attention has been given to housing developments proposed for areas around Interstate 40 west of town that would include high-end homes and office space; however, no final decisions have been made regarding these plans yet

Clemmons was founded in 1796 by Nicholas Clemmons and his wife Elizabeth. The following year, they built the first African American church in North Carolina. Clemmons County was named after them in 1839. In 1876, ClemmonsColony school was established in the town of Clemmons. It is now known as NC State University-Clemmons. In 1865, North Carolina seceded from the United States and became a separate country called Confederate States of America. Nicholas Clemmons served as its first governor. He also donated land to NC State for their new campus. After the war, Nicholas and Elizabeth moved to Charlotte,North Carolina where he died in 1886 at the age of 82 years old. Their son William Akeley took overrunning their business until his death in 1911 at the age of 86 years old. His widow Mary continued running it until her death in 1961 at the age of 96 years old. The current owner is their granddaughter Barbara Akeley who purchased it from her mother's estate in 1975 while she still lived at home with her father than living independently on a farm near High Point until moving to Clemmon when she turned 83 years old last year
Clemmons was founded in 1795 by John Clemmons and his family. The town grew rapidly and soon had a population of over 100 people. In 1845, the Clemmons family sold the town to the state of North Carolina for $10,000. The state renamed the town Clemmons in honor of John Clemmons.
