The Clemmons Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1892. It is the oldest rifle and pistol club in North Carolina. The club currently has over 150 members.
Clemmons is a town in Granville County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greensboro–Winston-Salem metropolitan statistical area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Clemmons were Native Americans who camped there in 1770 from their village at Great Fearon on the Hiwassee River. George Washington and his army stopped there in 1775 while they traveled up the Hiwassee to attack forces under General Andrew Jackson. A small community developed around this site and was named Clemmons after its founder, Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Clemmons of Revolutionary War fame. The first post office was established in 1806, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1917. In 1865, a group of men led by Captain John Sibley built a sawmill on the South Fork Catawba River near present-day Clintonville. That mill became known as Sibley's Mill because Captain John Sibley owned it until it went out of business in 1868. The mill continued to be operated for about fifty years before it closed down completely in 1951. A new sawmill was built on the same site by Scotsman James Miller in 1902 and continues to be operated today by his son-in-law, Derick Coker Sr.. In 1925, a Baptist church called First Baptist Church (now First United Methodist Church) was built south of town on land that had been donated by Mrs. Fenton Huntley Sellers along with some other property for that purpose. The community began to grow rapidly during World War II when many local farmers enlisted into military service and brought their families with them; many residents also worked at various factories located within or nearby Clemmons during wartime shortages of goods such as food items and materials needed for construction projects outside of town limits

Clemmons was founded in 1796 by Captain John Clemmons, a Revolutionary War veteran and mentor to the early settlers. The town grew rapidly during the 1800s, with a population of over 200 in 1802. The first school was built in 1805 and the first store in 1810. By 1830, Clemmons had become an important commercial center on the Pee Dee River. The town experienced a great growth spurt during the 1830s and 1840s, when new cotton plantations were established near Clemmons. The population of Clemmons declined during the 1850s as agricultural production declined and manufacturing became more prevalent. However, Clemmons regained its position as an important commercial center by 1860. In that year, Clemmon hosted the annual state fair which attracted thousands of visitors from all over North Carolina. During the 1860s and 1870s,Clemmons experienced significant growth due to its new railroad connection to Raleigh and other major cities throughout North Carolina. In 1892,Cle mmon passed through a period of severe economic decline caused by World War I casualties and social unrest across much of America. However,cle mmon recovered quickly after 1918 thanks to strong support from local businesses and citizens. In 1924, Clemmon hosted its first international conference on education for women which led to passage of North Carolina's first statewide educational law that same year. During World War II, cle mmon suffered extensive damage from Japanese bombers but slowly rebuilt following community donations and private sector investment totaling $43 million dollars within just four years post-war reconstruction program commenced . After World War II ended ceymont enjoyed rapid postwar growth due largely to continued efforts of local businesses including trucking servicesportation industry development .Today ceymont is one of eastern North Carolina's most vibrant communities with many thriving small businesses
Clemmons was founded in 1792 by James Clemmons and his wife, Bathsheba. The town took its name from the Cherokee word "clemons" meaning a white man's stream. In 1811, James Clemmons donated land to the town for a cemetery. The first school inClemmons was built on this land in 1827. The first post office in Clemmons was established in 1828. In 1865, the town incorporated and began to grow rapidly with development of trade and industry. In 1912, the town erected a public library which is still open today.
