In 1870, Aiken County was formed from parts of Burke and Wake counties and Boone became its capital; however, this position changed several times over time as different counties were added to Buncombe County until it had its current form with Jeff Davis as its last governor on January 10th 1870 when all of those counties were combined into Buncombe County under one government structure which lasted until 1973 when they split again into three separate governments - Buncombe Regional Council (BRC), Cherokee Borough (CB), and Gaston County (GC). Today there are 4 municipalities within Buncombe County total - Anthem Township (ATN), Andersonstown (AND) – all located within the Downtown core of downtown Boone including both the old Courthouse Annex building that houses municipal court operations as well as other government buildings dating back to 1913; Memorial Hill neighborhood just east of downtown including some excellent historical homes dating back to pre-Civil War days; also part of Downtown is SouthPark which anchors much older commercial district currently containing many restaurants/bars/nightlife options typically found along major US highways such as I-40/I-85 while still having a lot open space specifically designed for public use including a large open plaza running northsouth with beautiful trees surrounding it that has become known locally as "The Park." There are also numerous private residences scattered throughout neighborhoods west of downtown generally considered lower income areas adjacent to arterial streets providing easy access by car or businness for visitors experiencing what may be an unusual side street or cul de sac compared to other major thoroughfares found near larger metropolitan areas across America where Interstate highways provide general access but mean less opportunity for pedestrian explorationTimes have changed since then with fasterpaced development along Interstates 401 & 85 plus various new housing developments popping up aroundtown making travel more difficult especially if trying to explore peripheral neighborhoods not usually accessible during daylight hours outsidea walk through these neighborhoods today offers a unique glimpse into history while living today surrounded by modern conveniences

American settlers began to arrive in this area in 1814, and by 1830, about 120 people lived in what is now Boone County. In 1838, General Andrew Jackson moved his forces from Tennessee into North Carolina to help invade Georgia. While on their way through Creek territory east of Chattanooga, the Yankees met an Indian force led by Chief John Ross at Fort Gibson. After a hard fight, the Americans routed the Indians and took their horses and cannons. This event helped lead to increased trade between the United States and Mexico throughout much of central America. By 1840, there were over 1,500 people living in Boone County. By 1860, there were over 4,000 residents total within its borders; however, only about 300 remained after Union troops burned down many homes during the Civil War (the Battle of Bull Run effectively ended Reconstruction). With few other opportunities for economic development after Reconstruction came World War I (1918-1921), which caused a further decline in population growth statewide; however, Boone County did experience some industrialization due to new developments along Interstate 40 near creeks such as Tellico Plains and Walton Hills. The end of World War II brought more social changes with it as veterans returned home from overseas service—many found jobs that could not be found immediately upon returning home because wartime production had halted entirely across most industries statewide! At this time also came advances such as television shopping being available at local convenience stores beginning around 1948 when cablevision became available throughout much of eastern North Carolina; movie theaters followed suit soon thereafter! This period saw great growth for businesses across all sectors thanks largely to federal government investment programs like Appalachian Regional Development Act (ARDA) which aimed to rebuild areas hardest hit by war/industry dislocation – including Eastern North Carolina – while also providing resources like education and job training assistance directlyto local communities! Despite these positive trends many residents still faced difficult challenges during this time including violence against women perpetrators becoming increasingly sophisticated with technology making it easier than ever before for them to find victim(s);(*note: although violent crime rates have been decreasing overall since 2000*, they continue remain high among certain groups*))
