The first firearms in Apex, North Carolina were pistols. Pistol barrels had a small hole drilled through the center of them to allow the user to cock the gun by using one hand and pulling back on the barrel with the other. The guns were used for hunting and target shooting. In 1837, Captain John C. Broughton organized a militia company in Apex under the command of Colonel James Gadsden. This company was responsible for keeping watch over important highways in eastern North Carolina. In 1838, Captain Broughton organized another militia company named after him and this company was responsible for policing local courts in western North Carolina. In 1845,Captain John Sikes organized a volunteer regiment called "Apex Volunteer Infantry." This regiment was made up of men from Apex, Wilkesboro, Cullowhee and other towns near Raleigh. The purpose of this unit was to protect trade routes between Raleigh and Wilmington and to suppress slave insurrections throughout central NC. In 1850-1851, Lieutenant Colonel George Washington Tryon commanded this regiment while it guarded Western borderroads against Cherokee incursions into western NC during Johnston's War (1865-1866). During Reconstructioner times in America following World War II black Americans began coming into contact with firearms again through purchasing or borrowing handguns from white friends or acquaintances who had acquired weapons legally or without any legal restrictions as part of their personal defense measures pursuant to Title V of the United States Code (the National Firearms Act). This process gradually resumed after passage of both state constitutions providing universal rights for all citizens regardless of race as well as passage of federal Gun Free Zones Acts which banned interstate transportation or possession thereof without a license from local law enforcement officials. As early as 1955 two individuals at Hendersonville store named Edmondson & Sons leased land along I-85 westbound exit ramp from I-95 southbound for storage purposes for .22 caliber rimfire handguns being imported into South Carolina by several people including Clyde Anselmo Barnes who operated an ammunition business outfitting shooters across Southeast South Carolina at that time. That year also saw first use on public lands at Greendale Lakes NRA range located adjacent to Greendale Municipal Airport northwest corner Of Aviation Blvd., Greendale First Class pullover area behind airport property line when regulations requiring limits on size/capacity magazines went into effect nationwide effective March 14th following mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland County Florida which left 17 dead including 6 students and 3 teachers before gunman turned himself in three days later authorities determined he did not have any links with school shooting however raised questions about potential connections between high schools docked points around town &&& Second Handgun Ban &&&

During World War II, trigger guns were produced for use in artillery ammunition supplies personnel had access to only low quality stocks and often needed to fire live rounds into paper targets which caused accidents due to poor gunsmithing practices which led to numerous fatalities from faulty ammo handling techniques among soldiers who relied on these weapons for their survival during wartime conditions

Apex was founded in 1792 by Major General William Tryon. The town was the site of a major battle between American and British forces on November 11, 1792. The Battle of Apex Hill helped lead to the Treaty of Paris which ended the Revolutionary War.
