According to the 2010 census, there are total population estimates for each village range from 4400 to 7500 residents with only 600 people living in Downtown Yonkers according to2010censusdata In recent decades much progress has been made towards revitalization including new development such as OneWest Bank which reopened following $1 billion investment by JPMorgan Chase & Co., plans for cross country transit that will connect downtown with Brooklyn Center and Midtown Manhattan (the Second Avenue Subway will run through Downtown Yonkers), conversion of Harlem Road into a bike path/walkway connecting various neighborhoods east of downtown with other parts of town; renovation or replacement of over 50% of allstreetlights throughout town; installation or replacement of multiple water mains throughout town; expansion/creation of several parks including Great Lawn Park which provides open space for sporting events, large plays areas for children and community events such as block partyfairs; numerous businesses have opened up thanks to programs like Bring your Family & Friends Week where businesses are encouraged to participate in 20+ activities ranging from games daycare center & park hours during 5 days out every week all culminating with a parade down 2nd avenue on Saturday

Yonkers is a town in Rockland County, New York, United States. The population was 31,584 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City Metropolitan Statistical Area. Yonkers was formed in 1784 from parts of the small villages of Rome and Westchesterburgh. It became a borough in 1834 and an incorporated village in 1868. The Village had no police department until 1903 when it was consolidated with the Borough. Yonkers is located on the border between Westchester County to the north and Rockland County to the south. According to the United States Census Bureau, its total area is 34 square miles (89 km²). The first European settlers were Dutchmen who arrived around 1624/25 as part of a force under Governor George Carteret that invaded what was then called "New Netherland". They founded two small settlements: van der Woude's Corners on what is now Second Avenue and Mechelen Street, northeast of present-day Yonkers Center; and de Wit's Point on Long Island Sound about three miles east of present-day White Plains Junction. All land west of Third Avenue (northwest of modern-day Rome) became part of England by 1700 following Cornwallis' victory over King Philip IV at Saratoga Creek during the American Revolution. However, some areas near where Present-day Yonkers center sits were included in Albany Township until 1802 when it merged into Troy Township based on population changes within that area caused by waves of Irish immigrants flooding into New York during this time period seeking work opportunities. From 1800 through 1860, only men could vote in Uniontown because all other towns within Albany Township were closed to women (except for Oneida Falls which opened its doors to women starting in 1820). In 1860, however, voting rights were granted to women residents Of Troy Township who had moved there from Albany since both towns shared one common border with Albany but each municipality maintained its own elections system with separate voting rolls for men and women residents respectively until 1974 when state law changed allowing womens’ representation on municipal boards statewide via party affiliation instead thereof In 1899–1900 new housing projects known as “The Hilltop” – Bethpage Houses on Townshend Road Northeast corner Fairview Boulevard – began construction adjacent to what would becomePresent day Yonkers Center after years spent by Supervisor John Ferraro nailing down plans for an extensive retail park adjacent to Route 213A just off Broadway between Clinton street and Lenox avenue – which never happened due largely to opposition from developers including Edward Hylan Sr., owner/operator Taylor & Hylan Properties owner/operator Abram Levy along with numerous civic leaders including Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia among many others who saw nothing good coming after decades passed without serious development potential or even proposal despite objections from Mr Hylan Sr.– whose son today manages much of this property! It should be noted that Father Theodore Hesburgh played an instrumental role helping secure passage ballot items #1 & #2 above while also fundraising for these causes ensuring their success!
