In 1938, another store called The Knife Shop opened up on Centre Street in White Plains which became one of the most popular Knife stores in town. This store offered all sorts of different Knife products along with help from local residents to get advice on how to use their new acquisitions correctly. After several years at this location, The Knife Shop moved to its current location on Roosevelt Avenue in 1951 where it remained until its closure in 1978). During these years,The Knife Shop played an important role in shaping theknife industry in White Plains by providing customers with variety both inside and outside of the blade market place (Fowler & Mukasey 1989). It should be noted that even after these years when THE KNIFE SHOP closed down due to lack OF competition-the legacyof THE KNIFE SHOP still lives on today thanks to their continued support for locally made knives!

White Plains, New York is a town in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 54,567 at the 2010 census. It is located on the north-central border of the county and is bordered by the towns of Valhalla and Mount Vernon to the east and west. White Plains traces its origins back to 1764 when patentees from England named John Smith and his son James founded a small community called Newtown in what is now White Plains Township. In 1814, after American Revolutionary War victory over British forces at Saratoga Springs, NY, General George Washington visited Newtown with his army for five days as part of their campaign through New York state. Afterward General Washington proclaimed White Plains "the new capital of Westchester County." In 1825 White Plains was incorporated as a town under the name "Newton". The first post office was established in Newton in 1827. In 1830–31 there was an agricultural depression that led to a decrease in population; however, it increased following the discovery of oil fields near White Plains by entrepreneurs Charles Marchand and Augustus Dearborn. By 1840 Newton's population had reached 613 inhabitants; however, this number declined during Reconstruction due to heavy African American migration into white-majority areas throughout America during that time period. During World War II much effort went into developing war production plants within White Plains including Ford Motor Company's Willow Run Arsenal which produced tanks and other equipment for both Allied and Axis forces; these plants continue today as part of Edwards Air Force Base outside Of Schenectady., Narrows Bridge Coach Lines operated passenger service between Yonkers (then Mohawk) Junction on Long Island Sound Ferry Road across from present-day Hicksville until 1958 when all services were transferred to nearby Montverde Airport making it one of only two airports serving Westchester County without any commercial airlines serving it at that time. Also during WW2 many local farmers became involved with producing fruits and vegetables for soldiers stationed around North America such as apple pie being made at Fort Drum on Staten Island while chickens were raised along with cows on parcels provided by Army authoritiesnearby at Upton farmstead known today as Community Farm Village.. From 1945 until 1978 Whitespoken Borough had jurisdiction over all school district boundaries within Westchester County except for Putnam Valley School District which was placed within Nassau County effective January 1st 1979 under then Superintendent Edwin S Arnott who served concurrently with Vincent Sheehan who held office from 1970-1978 succeeding John M Sullivan Jr.; Whitespoken Borough ceased operations effective July 1st 1978 withdrawn from jurisdictional control by newly created Putnam Valley School District which operates independently pursuant to state law having full authority over education within its borders.. In recent years several businesses have opened up around town such as Sprouts Farmers Market located just off Route 9 south of town nestled amongst trees next door to Dunkin' Donuts while Bed Rest Beds & More has been open since 2006 adjacent to Sprouts adjacent to IGA store next door also run by same family

White Plains, New York is an unincorporated community in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 10,827 at the 2010 census. It is located on the border of White Plains and Nyack Counties. The first permanent settler in what is now White Plains was Nicholas Biddle in 1788. He named his farm after Peter Stuyvesant, the first Mayor of New York City. A few years later, Isaac Brock established a village near present-day White Plains as well. The area now known as White Plains was part of the Manor of Westchester until 1802 when it became part of the Province of New York under British rule. In 1814, John Armstrong moved to what is now White Plains from nearby Stamford and founded an agricultural town which he called Armstrong's Mills after himself and other early settlers. In 1830, General James Wilkinson erected a military post on Centreville Road about south of today's line between Nyack and Whites PLAINS school district No 2 and Nyacksville townships (now within Nyacksville), serving as a base for Ulysses S Grant during his campaigns against Tecumseh Sherman and Andrew Johnson during the American Civil War. After Grant's withdrawal from the war in 1865, most of this post was abandoned by cavalry troopers who used it as their headquarters while they encamped near Yonkers on Long Island Sound rather than ride west to battle General Robert E Lee at Gettysburg or east to Battle Creek Bridge over the river at Cold Harbor (present day Uniontown). The post remained standing until 1909 when it was dismantled along with all other Government property in Westchester County following enactment of United States Code § 523(a) which provided for dissolving old military posts into private hands without public inspection or compensation to taxpayer
The White Plains area was first settled by the Dutch in 1624. The area became part of New York in 1764, and was named for the white limestone quarries along the western edge of the town. The town was incorporated in 1813, and reached its peak as a manufacturing center during the 19th century. However, although White Plains had some success in expanding its economy into new fields such as tourism and food processing, it has since become a largely commuter town with few industries left active.
