On July 4th, 1814, General Philip Schuyler invaded Canada during the War of 1812 along with 10 other militaries under Major-General Israel Putnam without warning or notice to any residents living within miles of Canadian borders. The only person who knew about it was putteman Nicholas Dowd who lived just outside Schenectady on Bear Mountain and heard news thro' Indian runners about General Schuyler's preparations for war which resulted in alarm among both puttemen due to their proximity to Canadan soil and fears that America might be attacked if her neighbor became involved without warning them or providing an opportunity for them to evacuate their homes safely. As soon as he learned about it he ordered all doors in his house locked & spiritually consecrated catapults erected ready for launch should hostilities break out between our nation & Great Britain; however no hostile action took place & peaceable negotiations ensued thereafter! Many people believed that General Schuyler had been tricked by Lieutenant Colonel John Stiles into invading Canada when instead he had actually been sent there by President James Kieft because Kieft wanted revenge upon Great Britain following its defeat at Saratoga Campaign earlier that year which had seen British forces burned alive throughout much of Upper Canada including Toronto proper (now downtown Toronto). This event became known locally as 'The Invasion'. Aftermath: Schuyler was court-martialed after complaints emerged regarding possible abuses committed during his expedition - although no charges were ever filed - leading him to resign from military service days after its conclusion rather than go through another public trial where he could have faced death or punishment at home given British popular sentiment against ` unpredicted` military engagements abroad even then!
