Westbury is a rural town in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 8,325 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City metropolitan area. The first settler in what would become Westbury was John Fitzpatrick who arrived on Long Island in 1664. Fitzpatrick's grandson, Nicholas Fitzpatrick, founded the village of Westbury on the east side of Kill Devil Hills when he moved from Newtown Square, Connecticut in 1692. In 1746, Colonel Thomas Palfrey bought 1/4 mile (1 km) of land south of present-day Westbury and laid out a road to serve as an access point for his new settlement. The first white settler in what would become Westbury was Peter Bullock who arrived in 1752 and settled near present-day Eastwick. In 1814 Abel Perry patented 116 acres (41 ha) north of modern day Weston and west of Lake Ontario overlooking today's townsite including much of the southwest corner which he named "Westville." He also surveyed certain rights to water flowing through his property into Ossining Creek which became known as "Perry's Pond." In 1824 Jonas Rapp had 160 acres (60 ha) patented within what is now Weston Village limits east of Great Lakes Road and west of Perlmutter Road near where today's Middle School resides. This included lands now lying within what are considered the southern borders of Weston Village limits - that is to say those lands now lying east and southward along Church Avenue from Broadway to Millbrook Road; northward along North Avenue from Millbrook Road to Church Avenue; westward along Church Avenue from Broadway to Webster Street; and southward across Killingworth Brook between North Avenue and Highway 12A. On October 15, 1828 Jameson Phelps located two small villages one on each side orNW corner OF current day town line & called them Phelpsville & Putnamville after him both Settlers Living there At That Time There Were But 30 People On This Side Of River 2 Miles From Town Line & 20 Miles From Hudson Bay

Westbury was an Unincorporated Village in Ulster County, New York, United States. The village had a post office from 1868 to 1892. It was located on the west side of the Chenango River near its confluence with the Susquehanna River. The first settler in what is now Westbury was Nicholas Schaefer who arrived in 1795 and built a cabin on the banks of the Chenango River. He named his settlement after Mount Washington, which he saw from his farmstead. A Presbyterian church was built here in 1811 and remained in use until 1888 when it burned down. In 1840, General John Palfrey established Farms at Westbury on land that he purchased from David Burtzell for $1,000. Four years later, Palfrey sold his holdings to Isadore Kosciusko and others including Captain Levi Coffin who organized the town of Westbury into a six-town district on February 23, 1845. That same year, Easton Waterford became part ofWestbury by annexing parts of neighboring towns Clinton and Moravia as well as parts of Southold and Norwich. In 1950-1951 Joint Statistical Area (JSA) boundaries were changed due to population growth within New York City; since then much smaller villages have annexed larger communities while Westbury has continued to be an unincorporated community nameplate attached to larger villages like Easton or Hopeville
