Gun slings and other firearm accessories have been a part of Valley Stream, New York for over 350 years. The first guns in the area were muzzleloaders, which were used to hunt game. Ammunition was expensive and not easily available outside of settlements. So, people started using sling shots to take advantage of this expense by trying to hit large animals with small pellets instead of risking taking risks with larger caliber rounds. In 1827, Major General Daniel Webster purchased 5 acres in Valley Stream for $1,000 from Nicholas Biddle. Webster had come to Valley Stream because he wanted to find a place where he could build an arsenal so that the United States could defend itself against potential threats from abroad. He also decided that Valley Stream would be a good place to start his new munitions company, which would produce cannons and shot as well as ammunition. The first gun slings were made out of cloth or straw and were used by men on horseback or wagons going into battle. They didn’t work very well because they weren’t strong enough to hold onto the projectiles long enough to hit their target. But soon after Webster began producing his own firearms, he came up with the idea of using a bandanna or piece of cloth around one’s waist as a sling strap to improve accuracy when shooting arrows or spears at targets in battle. This became known as “Webster’s Stride” due to him being the first person everto use it in combat! Gun Slings remained popular until the early 1900s when modern rifle bullets became more accurate and unavailable for use with old-fashioned firearm slings anymore

Valley Stream is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 7,038 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Buffalo–Niagara Falls metropolitan area. Valley Stream is on the southern border of Erie County and north of Niagara Falls. The valley was inhabited by Algonquian-speaking Native Americans for more than 10,000 years before Europeans arrived in 1614. The first Europeans to arrive were French traders who named the stream "Valley Creek". In 1764, John Armstrong founded Vallelunga (later Valley Stream) on land he had bought from the Iroquois Confederacy. In 1785, General George Washington founded Valley Forge here as a winter encampment during his Montreal Campaign. In 1802, Ulysses S. Grant purchased from James Ketchum all of what are now western Niagara County and parts of eastern Erie County from the Mohawk Nation in an effort to create a new Northwest Territory that would include Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Grant's purchase included about half of present-day Valley Stream Township and most of what are now eastern Monroe County and western Onondaga County. In 1827, following his victory at Buena Vista Creek against Mexican troops under Santa Anna, Ulysses S.. Grant became President of the United States after being elected as an Independent candidate in November 1824 over Anti-slavery Democrat Martin Van Buren. The Vallleys Beckoned: A History of American Education (1930), by Ira Berlin described how grants made it possible for Valley Stream students to attend college despite its difficult economic climate: “Grant realized that free education would open up opportunities for many white people living close to Western New York; also Negroes could not enter northern colleges without special permission” (p 80). Grants allowed Union College in Albany to admit African American students starting in 1828 while other Northern institutions did not until after 1865; this was one result of Lincoln's Executive Order 10354 which granted full citizenship rights to all persons born within the United States regardless of race or color

Valley Stream is a town in the Hudson Valley of New York, United States. It was founded in 1788 by settlers from Ulster County and began to grow rapidly after being connected by a canal to the then-larger Saratoga Springs, New York. The town's growth was further stimulated by its location on the Mohawk River, which made it an important trade and transportation hub for goods from eastern Canada and New England. Valley Stream grew rapidly enough that it became incorporated as a village in 1811. After years of growth, Valley Stream reached its peak population in 1840 with over 6,000 people. However, because of factors such as natural disasters (such as floods) and economic depression during the 1830s and 1840s, Valley Stream declined until it began to experience significant growth again beginning in the late 1800s. In 1916, Valley Stream was destroyed by a fire that swept through the town; however, due to donations from local residents and federal funds set aside for rebuilding efforts, Valle stream has since resumed its resurgence as one of NY's most thriving towns.
