Valley Stream, New York is a small town in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York. It is located on the southern shore of Lake Ontario, about 20 miles west of the city of Buffalo. The population was 7,362 at the 2010 census. The first gun cleaning company in Valley Stream was founded by three brothers in 1881. They were Manuel I., Francisco and Isaac Ziegler. The first gun shop opened in what is now called Main Street (now Peninsula Boulevard) and served as a stop on the Erie Canal. In 1902, two brothers, Albert and Nino Speranza bought out their predecessors and took over operations of the business. They renamed it Speranza & Sons Cleaning Company Ltd., which still operates today as a family-owned business with over 100 employees. In 1934, Johnnie Lee Swartz became owner of the company and changed its name to Swartz Gun Shop Incorporated. In 1967, he sold it to Harry Daugherty who continued running it until his death in 1998. From then until 1988, it was run by his son Larry Daugherty Jr.. In that year, it changed hands again when Dennis Ritchie purchased it from Harry Daugherty Jr.. At this point however, things began to change for Valley Stream; little did anyone know that this would be their final straw as they would go on to lose government funding that allowed them to keep most of their equipment but not continue operating as a business-. That same year saw them file for bankruptcy protection but thankfully they were able to make a full recovery (). It wasn’t until 2003 when they finally closed up shop after years of economic decline that this happened; unfortunately their store had been dilapidated for many years before that).

The name "Valley Stream" comes from two forks of the Mohawk River - one near its mouth and another just upstream. The first Europeans to visit Valley Stream were Giovanni da Verrazzano and his crew of explorers on their voyage westward in 1524. They named it after a valley in Italy where they had been exploring before their journey. In 1614, early English settlers moved into what is now Valley Stream from Wappingers Falls opposite Albany, New York and founded a hamlet called Whitehall on stream's edge about four miles south of present day Valley Stream. In 1618, Samuel Pynchon bought some land along the Mohawk River from Dutch traders for $1 per acre (raised to $4 per acre by royal proclamation in 1634). Pynchon renamed his holdings Valleys Purchase which became part of ValleyStream when he sold them to George Washington during King George's War (1745-47). In 1815, General James Wilkinson landed at Alexandria Bay on Long Island with 8,000 men seeking possession of disputed lands east of Montreal that lay between Quebec and Canada proper. His army encamped at Whitehall until supplies could be brought upriver; then he marched northward through valleys Purchase towards Quebec City under cover of darkness three days prior to its fall on September 14th that year near present day Kingston On Hudson (Quebec). Many residents who had sided with General Wilkinson lost everything they owned when British forces burned their homes and farms as part of this campaign against French Canadians led by Sir John Graves Simcoe. American Major Robert Ross trekked downriver from Kingston On Hudson days later with 5 mounted militia columnists intent upon capturing Quebec City for America but failed due to weather conditions overrunning all available Indian positions including large bodies guarding the approaches to Quebec City atop hilltops within view only 400 yards wide or less than half a mile wide across open countryside lying within rifle range for British regulars commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Macdonald whose troops patrolled these areas nightly without effect or intervention beyond watching horsemen galloping around without warning any quarterlies stirring not a blade since morning... Valley Stream is part of the New Rochelle, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Valley Stream were Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524 and Giovanni da Verrone in 1525. The name "Valley Stream" came from the stream that ran through it. Valley Stream was first settled by Germans in 1785 and remained German until 1945 when most of the town's residents moved to America. The town was incorporated on February 13, 1802 as a village under the governance of the Town of Westchester. On July 1, 1903, it became a borough within the new county of Westchester without any vote by its citizens. Valley Stream had 756 residents when it became part of Clinton County on April 14th 1909. On May 6th 1912, during World War I Empire State Division VII (now known as United States Department Of Defense) troops burned down a schoolhouse in what is now Park Ridge Cemetery for unknown reasons despite orders not to do so from their commanding officer Colonel John Jelfrey who later said he did not know why they did it: "I never knew why they burned that building - I just didn't order them to." In 1922 land east of present-day Park Ridge Road was annexed into Valley Stream while west side property was annexed into Clintonville on November 2nd 1924; this annexation left behind an area now known as Park Ridge which borders both townships and has no connection with either originally mentioned villages or those two annexations other than being adjacent thereto geographically speaking; thus forming one contiguous community entity with equal voting rights apportioned among its component parts... ValleStream then reorganized itself et cetera pursuant to provisions set forth therein including creating wards and electing officials etcetera all having full authority exercisable subject only to limits hereinbefore specified."
